Stars on gray

This is the third online quilting bee quilt that I have made.  You can see the first here and the second here.

And I solicited your advice on how to finish it here and got lots and lots of great suggestions.  I thoughtfully considered each idea.  In fact, I grabbed each one by the shoulders and looked it straight in the eye.  Even laid them out on the floor to see what they would look like.

But when it came right down to it, anything more was too busy.  And it took away from the lovely stars on the field of gray.

Since my original plan was a scrappy border around the stars, I at least honored that notion on the back.

And this quilt is by far my most favorite of my quilting bee quilts.  I adore it.  Thank you to each of the women that made a block.

  1. I love this quilt!! I think what makes it different are the colors, and especially the background. Great choice, because the stars seem to float on top of the background. I love it! I also really like the back, how you pieced it. I like to do that to some of my quilts. I really want to make a quilt but can't until the new year because I have 2 more intricate blessing gowns to make :)

  2. I LOVE the grey! I think grey might be my new favorite neutral right now. And it stays a lot cleaner than white :)

  10. It turned out great! And you didn't even have to make any of those annoying piano stripes that some crazy people suggested (I mean me, so please, no one get offended). ;)

  15. Like my three year old would say,"This quilt is beautiful!" You're making me want a star quilt right now in those exact colors. In fact, that exact quilt would work just fine.

  20. It's my favorite of the three as well. It's just gorgeous. Just curious if you gave the blue and green fabrics to the participants or just the grey. Is it Kona charcoal? I love the colors! Great job, Dana!

  21. It's pretty flippin' amazing! Grey is not usually the neutral that I would pick, but it's perfect here and really shows the quilting to advantage.
