Finding inspiration

I am usually a start-one-quilt-and-finish-it-completely-before-you-start-another-one kind of girl.

But I still haven't basted, quilted or bound my last one.  I just haven't felt like nor found the time to baste it.

Plus I have to piece a backing for it.

And it would require me to mop the kitchen floor to baste it.

And I haven't felt like mopping.  ::gasp::

I've been wanting to start something new.

So I did.

  1. starting something new is the solution to all of life's little difficulties. Mopping the floor will just have to wait.

  3. Wooohoooo, I could never be just a one quilt at a time kinda girl, I'm a 20 at a time girl, and I love the creativity it brings me! I'm thinking of starting something new too! (just too many to choose from LOL)

  4. That's okay. I haven't done anything else to the one I sent you a picture of weeks, maybe even months ago. Homeschooling is all consuming these day. Enjoy your new project.

  9. What's a mop?

I usually have anywhere from 3-6 going at once; sometimes it *is* overwhelming. But two are handwork and therefore long term so they don't count ... right?

  10. This is exactly how my mind works! So, we would be right at home with one another, Dana. Currently I have one quilt waiting for me to piece the back and baste it, one quilt waiting for borders and I here I started another quilt. No apologies, though. Diversity keeps life interesting, right? Besides, it makes more sense to do the mopping when you have several quilts needing a clean floor for basting. ;o) That's my theory...

  12. PSHT! Roll with whatever creativity you've got & if it isn't to finish a quilt but rather to start a whole new project then carpe diem, girl!

  13. I'm finishing one I started months ago, but looking at your Innocent Crush makes me want to dig mine out! It's all your fault if that old one doesn't get finished! kidding...

  14. I have several quilts 'in process'... I can't seem to find the time to get them done right now! Maybe if I have some time over Christmas break, I'll get the sewing machine out again! I love your rows of thread - so pretty!

  15. LOL! It never seems to be a problem to start new projects...just a problem to get them finished. Sometimes you just need to be in the mood to accomplish your goals.

  17. Every time you post about mopping preventing quilt basting I just laugh to myself. And then I comment (again) and tell you that I'm always in the same boat! I'm contemplating whether or not I should mop this evening or tomorrow in order to baste. Did I tell you about the wonders of the steam mop last time I commented? I HIGHLY recommend looking into purchasing one. Do your homework though and read reviews on amazon. Someone did a crazy extensive review and I used her advice when I bought mine. All that said the steam mop might make it easier to mop but it will not increase your desire to do so! That I have not found a cure for yet!

  18. One at a time? Are you kidding?? I still haven't finished my quilt from the 2009 summer quilt along. :}

  19. I am (so obviously) NOT a finish-before-you-start-anything-new kinda girl. I just flit back and forth between multiple projects so if I feel like cutting things, I can or if I feel like quilting, I can do that too. Whatever I'm in the mood for, I do. Unfortunately, the backlash is that I'm neck-deep in projects! Looking forward to see your Innocent Crush project (is that right?).

  23. You're supposed to mop before you baste? Hmmm.... Is that why my quilts are kinda crunchy?....

  24. I admire you starting and finishing one quilt at a time. I get the top finished and then lose interest. Stilly trying to finish three that I got that far. One of these days...
