Shift
If you'd ask me what my favorite season is I'd tell you instantly that it's Fall. No need to ponder and ultimately decide. No siree. It's 100% Fall. In light of my certainty you'd think that I'd easily be able to tell you why. That I'd be able to rattle off a list of reasons like I had the season memorized by heart. But each Fall I'm always struck with the shift and say to myself, "I can't believe I didn't remember that part!" Like the flowers that seem to be giving one final fist bump. The first red and orange leaves lying on bright green grass. The spider webs so easy to see with their morning coat of watery dew. The final harvests.
And I know I'll discover new reasons tomorrow and the next day. And the next after that.

I agree and I do love the fresh cool air in the face feeling.
ReplyDeleteHappy Autumn, it always feel like a new year to me now not it Jan.
Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year also! I just love the shift from summer to fall. It's like something is telling you to slow down and enjoy all of it's beauty.
ReplyDeletei'm with you. i adore fall. (especially after the humidity of summer!)
ReplyDeleteI like the early change over. I like that is still warm, moving away from hot, but not yet cold. I like the still bright sunshine, even though it is beginning to set earlier and earlier and take longer to come up in the mornings. I guess I like the warm fall and not the cold fall.
ReplyDeleteWhenever I am in need of a boost I know I can get it from the simple beauty of your blog posts.
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteI love Fall for the quieting down, the dry, crisp days, the colors, and the changes. (I also love Spring for the colors and changes, but that's for another time of year.)
I like that...flowers..."giving one final fist bump." Perfect description! Fall is my absolute favorite too. Eventhough North Texas can kinda be stubborn about giving up summer.
ReplyDeleteWishing you many new Fall discoveries!
Fall is my favorite time of the year. The sound of leaves on the trees or underfoot. The cooler nights and sometimes warmer days (or not). The scurrying of squirrels prepping for long cold days. The hens running up to me to beg for scratch and joyously gobbling it up. Of wanting to knit socks for cold feet or make another quilt to snuggle with.
ReplyDeleteThat's just a tip on the old why I like fall.
Enjoy your daily discovery of why...I bet you have so many waiting to speak up.
LOVE,LOVE,LOVE your pictures. Tks so much for sharing. Fall is also my fav season. Light coat or sweater .... and the colours- WOW!!
ReplyDeleteWhoooHoo...internet is working again so I can stop with the dialup!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on loving Fall the best! Just ate our last fig on the tree my folks gave me for my birthday this year!!! That was a nice surprise!
Me too, it has been hectic here and yesterday on the drive into work I marveled at the simple beauty of the sun, blue sky, pale yellow of the dry corn, deep gold of the beans and the forever John Deere green tractor preparing for harvest. Just feels like home.
ReplyDeleteI love Fall. It's my favorite too.
ReplyDeleteFall is my favorite too; I love cold nights and warm days, the return of fog, the colours, the smells(wood smoke, yummy baking)
ReplyDeleteI agree, autumn rocks! Cool nights but warm days still, less wind, my birthday, my wedding anniversary, the leaves, the final Rose blooms. All good reasons autumn is the best.
