It's not Fall without the Festival

Nestled among these hills and hollers that I call home, live people and places that feel as much a part of me as my own heart.  Each Fall a festival is thrown that brings us together and celebrates people, art, dancing, music and food.  Oh the kettle corn that is consumed by my family during this weekend.
My girls have clogged for nearly seven years and each year at this time I sit in the Festival Barn with giddy anticipation of seeing them tap their toes on that stage.  My grin is a mile wide and my whoo-hoos are loud enough to embarrass them both.  I sit on those scratchy hay bales and tell everyone around me that those are my girls.

And when the crowd jumps to their feet in rousing applause at the end of each dance, I've got tears in my eyes.  Both for my amazing daughters...

And for the community in which I live.

  7. I love reading your blog.

You can say more in ten words than others say in a blog posting of 1,000 words.

    Your writing touches the heart.

    Thank you.

  10. What a beautiful location for a fall fest. I love watching clogging. I can relate toteh tears and the pride. Year for your beautiful girls.
My youngest was in a group that sang and did some simple 'dance' moves. They performed at Nursing homes all around our area. Every show I had the same tears in my eyes.
    Enjoy every minute, every event.
