I'm on a real alliteration kick lately. It was a toss up between "beautiful beguiling buttons" or "beautiful bewitching buttons". My fingers nearly typed "beautiful beguiling bewitching buttons" but I thought that was overkill.
So anyway.
Tomorrow for art class with the fifth through eighth graders I'm planning on making paper. We have been studying fiber arts and so far have done weaving, leather crafting, batik designs, yarn pompoms and for our final project we are going to make our own paper. Cool right? Don't shrug your shoulders like that. Those middle schoolers will do enough of that for the both of you.
But in my thrift store hunt for screens for the paper making process I happen to run across these captivating clasps. (**Alliteration rocks my world. Maybe I need to get a life.)
I'll have to hide these from Boo and Licious. Cause they'll want them. Cause they will put Elmer's glue all over them and stick them on paper. Not this time girls. These are all mine.

Making paper ROCKS! What a lucky group of kids :) FYI, my husband is questioning my iTunes charges .. I blame your blog!! Love the new song. Oh and the red buttons are awesome!!
I love alliteration too! I can't get enough of it! Love the buttons, I don't know if I'd be able to share them either.
I love making paper with pretty much any age group--the middle schoolers might shrug their shoulders, but they think it's great, so don't let them fool you!
BUTTONS!!!! I LOVE BUTTONS...I HAVE A GALLON JAR FILLED WITH BUTTONS AND SMALLER JARS FILLED WITH SPECIALITY BUTTONS...LIKE OLD BRASS HAWAIIANA, BLONDE COCONUT FIBER...OLD ALOHA SHIRT BUTTONS...THE LIST GOES ON. I AM DOING A SERIES OF WOOL CATS AND THEY GET TWO BUTTONS ON THEIR TUMMIES...HARD DECISION TO PICK WHICH ONE OUT TO USE :-)
First off, I must admit to the world (or your readers at least) that I had to look up the world alliteration. ;-Þ
I love vintage buttons. I inherited my Nanny's (grandmother) button tin. It brings back memories of digging my small hands in it when I was a tot. It always fascinated me.
Yours are lovely. :-)
Love those pointy bright colored buttons in that first photo. (Jack would covet those, lol.)
I am right with you all on the vintage button love.
Love Love them! I want to learn to make paper too! I promise I only shrugged the shoulders on time!
Love your button finds!! Check mine out on this post http://cvquiltworks.blogspot.com/2008/01/mailman-delivered.html
Both beguiling and bewitching! Bravo!
I wish I could make paper with you guys! That's awesome. Lucky ducks.
Thanks for sharing your delicious buttons!
How did I never appreciate the beauty in a simple button before?
Hallie :)
From one "retired" middle school art teacher to another: the buttons are great and the students will love making paper.
how cool i love old buttons too
Love the buttons! And your alliteration-reminds me of the movie "Stranger than Fiction" where he hears a lady with a British accent in his mind and of course thinks he is going crazy when she starts narrating his life.
okay, now I don't feel so bad about my button fetish.......I keep thinking I will use them to make beautiful things....bags with cool retro button clasps...but I can'r bare to let them go.....sigh...
Dana, I'm a buttonholic! You should see the buttons I have! Thanks for the reminder, as I've wanted to go on a button search. Haven't done so in quite a while. I'm going to make an art quilt out of some of the buttons I have. Wanna challenge each other?
Susan -- what kind of challenge do you have in mind??? I'd email ya but I'm not sure how to find you. :)
