Thrift score

It's been a coon's age since I have found anything worthwhile at a thrift store. But lookie here.

I know it seems to be a rather unassuming old hard shell blue suitcase. But, ever since seeing the magic work of Julie over at Jane's Apron I have wanted to try my hand at sprucing up an old case.

I've had this little scene for awhile (from a thrift store too) and it seemed like a perfect thing to use. Now the case is all gussied up and my girls have the perfect going-to-Nana's-to-be-spoiled-like-the-little-princesses-that-we-are suitcase.

That is if I take out all the vintage fabric that I also recently scored. Yards and yards of several different prints. I've got plans for a patchworky quilt. Maybe with some Flea Market Fancy fabric thrown in too. Sounds like alot of cutting. My least favorite part.

LOVE what you did with the suitcase! And I agree about the cutting- I'd have a quilt on every bed if it was all done for me!

I hate the cutting part too! I love your fabric finds though!

I love vintage hard shell suitcases by themselves (I have a few in my collection) but the scene on it really dresses it up. Very Cute!!!

I can't wait to see what quilt you plan to embark on. I don't like cutting a ton but I really don't like doing the binding

Love the suitcase, I am on the hunt for a few for my girls as well. I have to give a hearty amen to the cutting of quilts. I love to sew, but HATE the cutting part.

Wow, you really hit the jackpot, between the case and the vintage fabric! The case looks adorable. :-)

There are few things which thrill me more than a good find in a thrift store. ;-)

Dana,

You've really dressed up the suitcase and the fabric will make a delightful quilt. Thanks so much for sharing your finds. I haven't found much at the thrift stores lately but soon everyone will be donating from their spring cleaning chores. There should be more variety then.

Blessings,
Mary

Love it! I just love that old "Her Prettiness" stuff from Avon - I have some of that from when I was a kid but you really scored with that large picture!
