Crafty space

Up until now I've done all of my quilting and assorted crafting from this cabinet.

This large portion opens and a table drops down.

Like so . . .

But Razor is building me a new and improved area that will include the correct height for my machine, work surfaces and even a large cutting table. Oh and lamps. Actual light to work by People!

As I cleaned out the cabinet and sorted through my stash of fabric and all, I ran across lots of stuff that I'll never use. Quilt patterns. A Sigma Kappa needlepoint kit. (!!?? I've been carrying that thing around since college!!??) Even a random 9 patch quilt kit. I'll photograph those and give them to whomever (or is is whoever? I've never really understood that grammatical rule.) wants them.

That is once I get off my giddy, hands-shaking, eyes twitching, quilty, crafty high that I'm on right now. I'm guessing that will end when I have to prime and paint that sucker.

Cool. I just confiscated the armoire from the living rooom, painted it, and it is now in my sewing studio.

As I was looking at your cabinet, I was thinking wow that's pretty cool! My space consists of a tiny table in the corner! Kudo's on getting your new work area! What a great way to start the new year!

Your cabinet is adorable . . . but how great that Razor is building a new area for you. Color me jealous : )

Right now I'm trying to juggle a sewing machine, a desk light, my laptop, and 2 plastic containers on a desk the size of a postage stamp in the corner of our guestroom. Maybe I can "borrow" Razor??

i love that cabinet. just love it. and anything with a secret, flip-down table just gets me giddy. will the new workspace have any hideaway spaces? it's the nancy drew in me... like at any second, i could stumble across the hidden staircase.... or the flip-down sewing table. whichever.

Congrats on the new space! I love getting newly organized at the beginning of the year. I was curious about setting everything at the right height. Did you use any rule of thumb about the "correct" sewing height or are you just having him build it to what feels right? Lynn

There's nothing like a great workspace! I desperately need some better lighting in my sewing room!

That is a great cabinet! But I'm sure the new space will make for much more efficiency! Can't wait to see what you have to part with :)

I wish my DH could build me something. It must be wonderful to have a handy Hubby. I too think that cupboard is gorgeous. I wouldn't mind one like that. Good luck with the new one. D. :=)

How nice to have a new crafting space to look forward to. Your old cupboard could be refinished to hold you special projects. I am so spoiled to have a very large room to quilt in. Looking forward to pictures.

That cabinet is cool! Can't wait to see the new spot. And what is the cute thing in the bottom right corner made out of that chez moi fabric? I love that fabric and you can't buy it anymore that I am aware of.

How awesome that is that you are getting a new workspace. I understand about limited space, my sewing machine is on a small desk and my fabrics and crafts are spread out in boxes, a small three drawer plastic container, etc. lol I can't wait to see what you have to pass on...a great idea for a couple of giveaways huh? *wink*

Dana,
Sounds like you are going to have a wonderful new space to work from! My husband bought me this great computer armoire last year and installed a light for me. I love it. I could actually use a couple different ones! He loves to build things too but was on a time constraint. I can't wait to see the pictures you will post of it. Enjoy!

Such a sweet little cabinet. Did all those beautiful quilts come from that little cabinet? Can't wait to see pictures of the new workspace.

I love the beautiful cabinet. It is a little small though. Congrats on getting a custom cabinet for you sewing. I bet that makes you feel special. Our Hugs Ministry at our church would gladly take some of that fabric off your hands. :-) We make quilts for kids in crisis for the local sheriffs and fire departments to give out. Take care and God bless, Cory

That's quite a crafty craft-cabinet, though! Did Razor make that table for you?
