If you take a mouse to the city

Mice really. I'm referring to my children as mice. Country mouse to city mouse. Come on. Tell me you remember this book.

Ok. So anyway.

Stay with me.

If you take two kids out of the country and bring them to the city, they may just sit and watch.

Until one mouse decides to join in on the fun.

Albeit timidly.

And then decides to drag her sister out with her.

And she agrees reluctantly.

Reluctantly at first that is. Because soon she jumps in whole hog.

(Excuse the whole hog expression. You can take the girl out of the country but you can't take the country out of the girl. By golly.)

It wasn't long before these mice turned into lizards warming themselves on the concrete. And acting causally nonchalant about the whole ordeal. Probably because it wasn't much different than running through a lawn sprinkler like we do back at home.

We have fountains like this right up the street from our house. My girls love them. It's a fun inexpensive way to cool down during a hot summer day. You are right though, just like sprinklers at home...minus the doggy poo in the yard.

Hehe I'm a city girl and I always say my husband is a little country mouse whenever we go to the city... he says he can't hear anything because it's far too noisy and crowded, and he sticks reaaaaaally close to me, just in case lol

funny thing is, we're more "city" than country these days, being in the burbs, but we still just do the sprinkler. i think it's the same one i used as a kid. it's ANCIENT ;-) man, i wish i was still a country mouse. love these shots. glad to have you back too. hugs to those beautiful girls! you too ;-)

I read Country Mouse, City Mouse a few years ago and asked my daughter which she was (she is a country mouse) and she replied City Mouse. I explained why we were country and she cried and cried. She wanted to be a City Mouse.

That looks like so much fun! I can't wait until it's warm enough here to run through the sprinklers!

Love the pics again...you take such great photos! I love the reference to the mouse books too. Poor little ADD mouse never gets anything done in those books. :) Glad the country mouse came out the big city, its fun sometimes but I don't like big city either.

So cute! I always refer to myself as a country mouse! My whole family is very comfortable in the city but not this country mouse!

Don't kids just love those water fountains? We have a couple in the city and the big kids (20+ yo) get into it at night too. When the weather is warm ;-)
