Licious has always wanted to fly. And Licious is a crafty inventor.
Since May she has had large cardboard pieces in her room that she insisted on keeping. "Why?" I would ask. "Because I'm going to make wings." She would say.
Wings indeed. Just before school began again.
Like a true inventor if at first it didn't work, she would try something new. And talk one of us into helping her.
I knew what her next plan was just by the look on her face.
And she really thought this would be the winning ticket. The helmet is a dead giveaway.
I love the way her mind works. I love these wings. I love the look of joy on her face as she tries every means she can think of to fly.
Not so crazy about the fact that she used my sewing scissors to cut the cardboard. . .

Y'all make me smile!
Love her spirit!
priceless!
She is awesome!
Oh no! Not the sewing scissors!! God bless your heart for taking it in stride! Mom kept spare pairs of large Fiskars in every. single. room. of the house growing up for that very reason. She knew if we couldn't put our hands on a pair of scissors in approximately 0.284846 seconds, we would head to her sewing room and grab the first pair we saw.
Oh my gosh, this is so great! You will be pulling these back out someday when she celebrates getting her pilots license!
Bwhahahhaaaaa....Awesome...I hate to tell her she needs bigger cardboard. I know where she can get an endless supply...says the wife of the man who puts in new kitchens...that have cabinets and appliances....that come in cardboard boxes!!:)

Oh my. This is too wonderful for words: her ideas, her face, your photos! And especially the way you all encourage and support her! Thank you for sharing.

Soooo cute! What an awesome grin! Oh to be young again. L,A-
Oh how I wish I'd had digital back when mine was this big. Love her joy.
Priceless . . .
Oh Dana! What fun! She is having a ball, it shows in that big grin! It shows just how happy one little girl can be! (I'm sure the scissors will cope with just the one use!) (hoepfully hehe)
I love her spirit of adventure! ...One of my sons was always creating costume parts from paper that he would tape to his clothes, arms, face, etc. .... So he often got rolls of tape and packs of construction paper for his birthday! (Oh, and his own scissors too!) :D
The sewing scissors? Nooooo!!! But it was in the spirit of science and adventure. You can always buy new scissors, but you will never be able to buy that kind of fun! Now I wanna fly!
This is a very entertaining post! Don't you love the way kids think?
I. Love. This. <3
Not the sewing scissors!!! At least she knows to use the right tools for the job. :)
What a fun adventure.
And I love your screen door. Wish I had a screen door.
i love how you let her explore every option. Her smile tells me she loved every minute of it too.
Thanks for bringing me back to those days again Dana! She is awesome!
what a clever girl!
"what a clever girl!"
Yeah!! :D
NOT THE SCISSORS!!!!! they need to disguise those things as broccoli or a toilet wand or something so they stop trying to use them to cut whatever craziness they are cutting that is never fabric.
scratch that. my kids would still play with the toilet wand. broccoli it is. or beets.
love this girls ingenuity and determination!!! i sort of want to fly too.....
Brilliant! I love to see creative kids. It takes me back about 20 years!
You'd think our kids would know better than to ever TOUCH the sewing scissors by now! LOL.
I love the determination of children!
Love those dimples!
Oh how quickly those childhood days go by.........Have fun sweet child!
Happy sewing Dana :0)
this is so much fun to see ...thanks for sharing your precious babies with us!
love her desire to dream and her persistence to keep it alive!! may she never lose her willingness to act on her dreams ...
The look of sheer joy on her face is priceless!
Makes me smile. Except the part about the sewing scissors. ;-)
With her combined imagination and determination, along with parental encouragement and support, there's no telling what she may accomplish in her lifetime. Bravo.
awesome! What a ingenious kid. Thanks for sharing. It's a good reminder to nurture that creativity. I'm not the best at that.
Adorable! I guess you can always get another pair of sewing scissors. But moments like this you just can't buy.
Cute!! Let that sweetie watch UP! ;)
great effort- always worth a shot!
at least she didn't try jumping one story with a plastic bag on her back like a parachute. my husband tried this when he was little.
just reading this made me feel young again... Love that child's mind... ;-)
