Accuquilt Go! Cutter Giveaway

***TIME'S UP!  WINNER TO BE ANNOUNCED SHORTLY***

I mentioned a few days ago that I was going to give away an Accuquilt Go! Cutting System.  Lucky for me this is being generously donated by Accuquilt and the lucky winner will receive the Accuquilt Go! cutting machine as well as three dies of their choice.

Now I have seen this exact machine at my local quilt shop.  And I've even stopped and looked at it.  Even run my fingers along the shiny roller bars.  Perhaps turned the crank a time or two.  But I hadn't really considered buying one because I'm not a real gadgetry kind of girl.   My cutting mat, straight edge and rotary cutter work just fine.  Besides, I don't have the time to learn how to work some new machine.  When I quilt I want to quilt . . . not figure out how to use some new fangled gadget.

Well, Accuquilt sent one to my house.  For me.  And that sucker sat in a box for a good week before I even unpacked it.  I was intimidated.  And nervous.  And just didn't want to find the time to learn how to use it.  But I did want someone to win one.  So I opened the blasted thing and figured I would find a manual an inch thick.  Instead, I pulled out the machine and the dies and matching cutting mats.

Hmm.

OK.  I plunked it down on my cutting table and read the brief instructions.  Since I use 5" squares often I decided to try that first.  It mentioned the importance of having the fabric just over the cut shape area so I snipped some fabric to fit it.  I didn't even bother ironing the fabric.  Gasp.  I know.  I know.  I totally know better.  Just keeping it real.

Anyway, first I put down the die with the foam side up.  Then I laid the said unironed fabric on top of the die.

Then the cutting mat goes on top of the fabric.  And you push the whole die-fabric-mat sandwich up to the rollers and crank the handle and watch as it goes through the rollers.

Ta-dah!  Two 5" squares and the remaining scrap.

"OK," says me.  Let's try something harder.  How about the drunkard's path die?

Cutting die.  Fabric.  Yep, still not ironed.

Cutting mat and roll it through.

Shazam!  And this thing can handle six layers of fabric at once??

Sold.  I get it.  I see the possibilities.  And I'm totally itching to grab a stack of fabric and start cutting.

After I iron it of course.

Wanna win one?
