The calender says it's fall. As does the
annual fall festival, golden hued mountain sides, pick-up trucks trolling the roads with their radio antenna searching for the beacons from their dogs' radio collars, harvest carnivals at school and Halloween.
But there's another thing that surely means fall at our house. Cutting loads of fresh herbs to dry in the greenhouse before the first freeze. Parsley, oregano, thyme, rosemary, sage.
My bare greenhouses now only serve the purpose of herb drying.
But after I cut the herbs I then wander around the yard and
collect dried seeds. For they are what will fill my lonely greenhouses come spring.

How wonderful to have your own greenhouses. And to have such an abundant supply of herbs to dry. I've always wanted to do that but never take the time to figure out how. Looks like you have a beautiful selection of herbs! Such a great time of year.

If I weren't so absent-minded (and lazy), I might be able to herbs and green things. But until I marry a gardener, I'll just have to bask in your lovely photos..

ReplyDeleteOne day I'll have a greenhouse. Maybe then I'll have less of a oops, killed that plant, and more of a yay, it lives. :D
