The rest of the room

So, we painted the play room and built that crazy cool barn track door.  But that's not all.  We also built an entire wall of shelves.  And by "we" I mean Razor.

Then we primed and painted them red.

Sometime last fall I found three old pull down school house maps.

My handy guy figured a way to hang them without the original hardware.  And he built the beautiful, black cornice box around them too.   I love 'em.  And by "'em"  I mean both Razor and those maps.  And those retro inspired National Park prints too.

The shelves are now filled and the room is neat and tidy.  In a few weeks we (Razor!) will replace the light fixture and hopefully install a window in the wall above the couch . . . which we've left empty in anticipation.

There you have it.  Our new play room.  Which isn't so much a play room anymore as much as it is a place for us all to enjoy.

P.S.  Our indoor cat, Jezebel, appears in three photos.  Have you spied her each time?

I like your new header on your blog too.
Did you get snow and ice like we did here on the coast?

  6. Jezebel is a sneaky kitty:)

Speaking of sneaky, I spy a tiny sewing machine in the "play room as well. Love those maps and how he constructed the box to hold them in. He's very handy and reminds me of my hubby's talent as well:)

  10. Wonderful! Sure is nice to have a handy hubby! Mine has been priming and painting the bathroom this week. Not exactly the best weather for it, but it looks so much better!

I think I "spied" the kitty in the pictures. Sneaky little thing she is!

  11. the room looks so beautiful. The bookcase is such a great addition for storage and it looks great too. I love that it extends overthe top of the doors. The cornice really makes those maps look so special.
It took me a while to see the cat in the last picture. LOL. Hiding in plain sight.

  12. Nice work, Razor! I see that you were closely supervised throughout this process and the results are fantastic :-)
(Seriously. I'm also glad DH and Razor haven't gotten together because I think we'd reach critical mass for making things)

  15. I am loving what "you" did with the room. Your house reminds me so much of my Mema's house in SC. Such wonderful memories there. Love the barn track door also! :)
