Scraps in a canning jar just for you

TIME'S UP. WINNER IN NEXT POST.

I've talked about making jelly and jam here before. Several times in fact. And since I make lots of jelly and jam I have loads of canning jars in the cellar. The above photo shows the various sizes of jars that I possess. For food purposes that is.

However, I have a whopper of a canning jar that I use for fabric scraps.

It sits right by my fabric cutting table and all sorts of fabric scraps find their way into it.

And I haven't emptied in awhile.

But it is chuck full of good stuff. Stuff that I've been saving in hopes of making a string quilt. But . . . well . . . I've got loads of projects waiting to be done and a string quilt is at the bottom of that list. Besides, I think 500 posts here deserves some sort of giveaway.

So, I'd like to send said scraps onto one of you. Leave a comment here and I'll pick a winner by random draw on Monday, November 16, 2009. One entry per person. International entries welcome.

As I stated in my last entry, this weekend our youngest is having a birthday slumber party. Here at our house. I am hoping that the comments you leave will distract me from the chaos that will be 12 little girls tearing my house apart.

Good luck!

-dana

Ooh, I would love to give your scraps a VERY good home! Love the way you stash them in a pickle jar--pretty and functional too!

Hi,
I've only just found this site. There is such a beautiful assortment here. I'm still researching quilting, until I can afford to buy some fabric to physically give it a go. So I hope you don't mind if I put myself in for the draw? It might get me started.

500 posts? That's quite an accomplishment...congratulations on all that you do, you are inspirational. Although hosting sleep over party may fall into a different category! Hope the comments are worthy of distraction and thanks for putting up your scraps. (Cool Jar too!)

I love, love, love your jar. What a great conversation piece. And then, what a bonus to have it filled with scraps. As a child, my "sewing Mom" would give me her scraps. I learned to sew from having access to scraps. Great give away. Thanks and happy times at the slumber party. Got to love a house that is full of girls.

What an awesome jar! I'll be on the look-out for one next time I go to the antique mall. Seriously sweet.

As for the scraps: also awesome! And I'd love to have them :o)

Hope you have survived the party....I do not look forward to that day. Luckily we've only had 1 or 2 sleepovers for my girls, but I am sure that there are plenty in my future. The potential that could come out of that jar is huge!! Thanks for giving it away!

I love slumber parties. I try to have a few each year and I borrow other people's kids. Of course I know them! Can you imagine the looks of strangers faces if I invited their children to a slumber party? Lol.
I like your canning jar scrap idea!

What a great idea! I scored a beautiful old pickle jar at a yard sale this summer - now I now what I'll use it for!

Ooh! I'd love those scraps. I have no scraps of my own. I have very little by way of fabric, mainly because I have very little by way of money! And I am ITCHING to make a quilt!! *sigh*

Never mind my pity party, I hope your girl had a good birthday party!

Yay for internationals! I'd love some scraps as I'd love to make a cool string quilt/scrap quilt. I'm really interested in canning too, but unfourtunately it's not the kind of stuff you can just buy at the shops or in kitchen stores.
