Gonna get it right

This weekend was sunny and 60ish. We visited a local orchard and bought four apple trees.

Boo helped Razor build a new shelving unit in the mud room. They made it with reclaimed hardwood from a falling down, very old general store across the road. Don't worry. We had permission.

Meanwhile, Licious helped me with some pinwheel blocks. And we walked the dogs and rode our bikes.

And made our first batch of cinnamon rolls in our official quest to find the most perfect recipe. This one was close but we have a few changes to try next weekend.

Again, don't worry. Once we discover cinnamon roll nirvana I will be sure to share the recipe.

I found cinnamon roll bliss over at The Pioneer Woman-http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2007/06/cinammon_rolls_/
I LOVE the maple frosting and have made these the last three Christmases.
I would love to find out which you choose as your fave!

I can smells those rolls.....nothing better than hot out of the oven cinnamon rolls with melted butter.
My Mom use to bake them by the pans full at Christmas time and give them to the neighbors as gifts.
After she baked enough of them for us 7 kids :0)
I've never had a better one since!

Happy sewing

Those look wonderful! I have a breadmaker recipe, (only the dough is made in there), with a bit of orange zest in the dough. I add a tiny bit of almond extract in the icing. You'll probably get a zillion recipes requests after your post! Good luck on finding your favorite family recipe! Experiment- a lot!! ;)

I really appreciate that you guys drown your cinnamon rolls in icing. I can't wait for the winning recipe!!

What kind of apple trees did you get?!

Here is my recipe if you want to try them. They make two 13 x 9 pans. I easily cut it in half for just one pan for us.

Here's my fave:

Cinnabon Clones
1 cup warm milk (110 degrees)
1/3 cup butter, melted
2 eggs, room temperature
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sugar
4 1/2 cups bread flour
2 1/2 teaspoons yeast

Process above ingredients on dough cycle of bread machine. Turn onto
floured board; let rest 10 minutes. Roll into 16" x 21" rectangle. Spread
with: 1/3 cup softened butter. Mix together: 2 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon and
1 cup brown sugar; spread over butter.

Roll up dough, long side first. Slice into 12 pieces. Place in lightly
greased 9 x 13 pan. Let rise in warm place 30 minutes. Bake at 400 degrees
for 12-15 minutes.

Frost with:

6 oz cream cheese
1/2 cup butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups powdered sugar

It's been so long since I was here. Mmmmmm cinnamon rolls - my mouth waters. Hopefully you can only post the recipe in July, when I'm able to start eating sugar again (long story involving mean doctors).

Have missed you - but am back now!
