Recent thoughts on stuff . . .
You know that feeling when your feet are warm in the sand and you could just keep them there forever. But your salty and sticky and sandy. And your shoulders are getting sun burned. And the troops are getting hungry and you know you should head back and start the grill to feed them? That's kinda where I'm at with this whole end-of-summer-back-to-school-on-Monday thing.
Also . . .
As I was driving the other day a chipmunk dashed out in front of my car, raced across the road as fast as possible, and jumped with reckless abandon into the tall grass on the other side. I cannot get that image out of my head. And really, when I stop to think about it, that image is the same with every creature darting out across the wide, scary asphalt. Rabbits do it. Squirrels. Groundhogs too. The way I see it, the chipmunk sees the asphalt, knows he has to cross it, probably can hear the car engine whirl, knows what has to be done, risks it all and goes for it. And gives it absolutely everything he's got. That chipmunk does a beautiful, full fledged, full running speed, head first jump into the tall grass waiting on the other side. With burning rubber nipping at his back side.
That is how I hope I'm living my life.

Absolutely beautiful images, and what a great analogy for living a fulfilled life. I've really enjoyed this post. Thanks for sharing!
you are my favorite. and i am so glad that my kids are 1 and 3 and aren't going to school yet. i like them little.
These photos are so inspiring and stunning! I can relate to your sentiment here - my favorite song is titled Closer to the Edge, about living life on the edge. It can be hard at times, but it makes like so much more exhilarating.
Well said - if we waited until the coast was clear, we would never get across!!!! Lovely photos!
You are taking pictures of sunsets too. We are related if only in spirit. Love your blog post and I so relate as I now am mourning not having the kiddos around, but there is nothing like them coming home and spilling all of their day all over the house and filling my ears with it. enjoy your days
Dana I'm with you on the animal thing only this past week I feel a little more like roadkill, lol!
As long as there's no tyre marks, I'm good with that! Eloqent as always Dana! Back to school already? We have another 3 weeks!
Burning rubber nipping at your backside...oh what a vision!;)
