Recent Clogging Videos

These are two of my favorites that the girls are clogging. The first is a waltz clog and the second is Irish. Hope they make you smile as much as they do me!

Clogging in moving pictures!

I told you recently how my girls performed at our local fall festival.  Well, here are a few videos that so many of you have requested.

Plus, the winner of the long arm quilting gift certificate is ksrunt.  Shoot me an email at dana at oldredbarnco dot com and I'll hook you up.

Now, back to toe tapping!

Annual Fall Festival

This past weekend was the annual Fall Festival in my neck of the woods.  It's always a busy weekend for our family since I set up shop there and the girls clog on the big stage both days.  Though it's busy, it's also one of our favorite happenings all year long.

And knowing us, we'll talk about this one for several months and then start talking about the next in anticipation.

Culturally speaking

Last week we were fortunate enough to host cloggers from the Czech Republic.  You might remember that both my girls are cloggers and you can find many videos of them here doing just that.  Here is a small taste of what those amazing Czech cloggers can do. . .

Took my breath away to be honest.  And we haven't stopped talking about how much we enjoyed having the two Czech teens stay with us for a night.  They spoke excellent English and were so kind to answer all sorts of questions that we threw their way.  They are back home in Strakonice, Czech Republic . . . I know this because we have already been emailing each other.

Fall Festival Clogging

And, considering it is October 4th I guess it goes without saying that I've already failed at the whole posting a photo a day each day in October schtick.

Hmpf.

Let me state officially for the record that I'm going to take the "a photo tells a thousand words" approach for the next few weeks.  And once I'm home from The Sewing Summit and Yellowstone/Jackson Hole I'll resume regular programming.

Definitive sign of fall

Each year the girls clog at our area's fall festival.

The dancing.  The food.  The crafts.  The music.

These things are a definitive sign of fall in our neck of the woods.  And this family looks forward to it much like an anticipated sequel to a favorite book.

It means that we can put away the flip flops and dig out the sweatshirts. Request hot chocolate at the breakfast table and a campfire in the evening. See our yard fill up with leaves and bid adieu to the hummingbirds.

Quilts from the festival barn rafters + girls on the clogging stage = fall.

At last.

Dancing!

These past couple of days have rushed by in a blur.

For the girls and I were lucky enough to travel to Kentucky to participate in the 75th Annual Mountain Folk Festival. We danced till our feet hurt.  And then we danced some more.  We were invited to go with my friend Tipper and her girls. And those young whipper snappers did this foot tapping clogging routine and kept on dancing even though the music gave them fits.  Yeah for that!

Tipper explains this festival far better than I.  She talks about it's history, importance and relevance to today's youth.  All I know is that Boo and Licious enjoyed dancing with a gym full of other kids.

I seemed to enjoy the square dancing the best.  In fact, I have one that keeps running through my head . . . You allemande left your corner, then you right hand to your own . . .strangely it isn't as good as when Bob calls it.

The people we met, music we heard, dances we danced and friends we made will be remembered for years to come.

a walk while . . .

I love fall.  And photography.  Even if these were only taken with my camera phone.

Sites and sounds of fall

This weekend marked the true beginning of fall. And it was such a welcome relief. A welcome ritual.  A welcome distraction.  And really, a welcoming welcome.  Summer was such a long and hot one this year.  And this weekend felt, sounded, looked and tasted like fall.

Cornbread Ted & the Butterbeans.  I'm kind of turning into a groupie.

Fall at last.

Fall festival

You know it is fall around these parts when our local fall festival comes to town.

It means a little of this . . .

And a whole lotta this . . .

My little cloggers

Each year Boo and Licious clog at a local fall festival. It is the biggest show of the year and highly anticipated. They dance many routines but I'm only sharing two here. The second one is danced to live music. (Yo! Go the my music player on the left and press pause to stop the blog music so you can hear only the clogging music.)

I love that young and old clog together.

And I adore their toe-tapping-happy-dancing-little-clogging feet.

Cause ya asked for it

The girls clogging to Cluck Old Hen. Before you hit play, go to the music player on the left of your screen and push the pause button. That way that music will not interfere with the music on the video.

Clucking

Boo and Licious love clogging. And, they love it even more when they have an audience. Last night they brought down the house!

The greatest part of my weekend!

The girls had their first clogging performances on Saturday and Sunday. They are the two shorties in the middle. Licious on the left. Boo on the right.

The rest of my weekend consisted of selling my goat milk soap and sugar scrub at an entirely different festival. And dealing with this . . .

What is that you ask? Does this give you a better clue?

You guessed it. Our septic system backed up and caused lots of loveliness to occur at our house. On a weekend. On a weekend when septic tank workers don't come out to fix it. On a weekend when when my girls have their first clogging show. On a weekend when my girls have their first clogging show and Nana and Papa traveled 6 hours by car to stay with us and see said performance. Did I mention how lovely that was?

Ok. Back to the good stuff. Did I mention that my girls had their first clogging performance?

Aren't they adorable?

Whoa! Did you just feel that? Whoa . . . there it was again. I do believe that the earth shook for a minute. No, not like an earthquake. More like it wobbling off it's axis or something.

What am I talking about?
