May we dance?

The girls danced in a local May Day celebration today. They wove ribbons around the May pole. It was cloudy, gray and rainy so the festivities were indoors. Beautiful and merry. Just not the bright-sunny-happy-children-dressed-in-
white-dancing-with-colorful-ribbons-around-the-May-Pole
kind of photos I had envisioned.

What nice photos. Sorry it had to be indoors. I just mentioned you on my blog -- my rainy day at the computer was made much more tolerable with your music playing.

on kauai, may day, was a huge celebration with each class from kindergarden on up doing a dance. as the grades progess, dances and horors increase until you are a senior and may be picked to be a kahelii bearer or part of the royal court. was always a hit, the best year and busiest was when i had a boy in each school...elementary, middle and high schools. the girls in their hula skirts and the boys in their lavlavs

These photos just make me want to dance - I remember learning to maypole dance when I was younger - I loved holding the ribbon and skipping along to make the patterns down the pole ...
