Those are Currants aren't they! They are my favorite!! My mom has a bunch of plants, but I don't know if there's enough to make jam. I'll see how many grow this summer and I may be emailing back for that Jam recipe!
canning, and fresh fruit in general, especially grown yourself just always has somehting so fulfilling about it! You've got me craving a bottling session with my family!
You have just taken Me back to when I was a Little girl My grandma had bottled berries and nice strawberries just like that Thanks for the good memories. Hugs Mary.
tipper offers blackberries and i offer raspberry jam or concord grape or both! the grapes were a challenge until i realized they would go thru my juicer...about 50%of the pulp, all the juice and spit the seeds into the hopper in the back. sure doesnt taste like welshes thats for sure. its mark's fav. the lady who let me pick the grapes last year has offered to give me plants, i just have to go up there and dig them out and replant in my yard.
I've been eyeing the plum tree in the front yard of the house across the street from me. The previous neighbors, not being plum eaters, or canners, offered me the plums from it. If I don't see the new neighbors plucking the plums by the time they're good and ripe, I'm marching over there and asking for them. Man, I hope they don't like plums. ;-)
My Friend Dana? Yes Dana that is her name, she told me once she would teach me how to jelly!! Yes jelly ! We were going to do jelly and jerky!! I have to call that Dana!?
Yum yum yum. My husbands grandmother used to make her own jam - it is famous in his family because she always added very little sugar and apparently it was not exactly appetizing!!
