Reducing our carbon footprint

We have always tried to be good stewards of the earth. Long before it was the cool thing to do. Every now and then I'm going to share what we do to reduce our carbon footprint.

For one, I hang the laundry on the clothes line as much as possible.

We don't run our clothes dryer much which saves bunches of electricity. Plus, our clothes smell so darn good. Are brighter from the sunshine. And, are just so darn pretty to look at blowing in the breeze.

Aren't you glad I didn't show our underwear flappin' in the breeze?

I have missed having the opportunity to hang out my clothes, not living where I have a space for a clothesline.

Speaking of undies, there's a house not far from me with a huge corner lot, and they hang out their laundry. I've never seen the woman, but there's always this long line of huge granny panties hanging there, flapping in the breeze. It's a high traffic corner. I'm afraid pride would prevent me from doing such. ;-Þ

Ha! I keep my undies on my stand-up line instead of the one poking out of the back of my house. Your laundry does look gorgeous! I've taken a few photos of my line. I think it's hilarious when it's a "kid's laundry" day. I nearly run out of pegs with all the teensy clothes!
I have yet to blog the pics, though..

I don't have room for a clothes line either . . grew up doing it though! Your pictures make me want to go cut up a bunch of sheets for a quilt. How's your quilt coming?

Hey, my undies are flapping in the breeze at this very moment! :)

(on the clothes line, that is)

We don't have a clothesline. I would have to sit and watch it while it dried to make sure noone steals it..... downtown-Copenhagen-living-charm! Anyway, when we move out of the city, we'll have one for sure!

Lovely sheets you have!

The sheets are VERY pretty indeed! I wish I had a clothes line...Mayhaps I should install one??

I very rarely use a dryer.. we get too much sunshine in Australia to not use a clothesline.. I put the undies on the inside of the line and the sheets and towels hide them! or I put them on a wee foldaway clothesline.. we have a line up in our garage too, so we can hang stuff up there when its raining and they still get dry !

take care

I want a clothesline! I've been thinking about it for awhile.
I love those pink and yellow pillowcases, I have a sheet like that, I haven't been able to make myself cut it up and use it yet!

We do have a clothesline and I like my sheets dried on it. But the sun is strong here and too much fading and sun damage results if I try to do much else on the line. Another thing I do is very seldom to I use my dishwasher except as a drying rack. I only use it when we have company and lots of dishes.

I can't stand clothes dryers. There is nothing like getting into bed between freshly sun-dried sheets. Bliss. I think clotheslines should be a world wide requirement and dryers should be outlawed. Ok, that's impractical for some places, but there is no reason why people who have backyards can't use a clothesline for at least some of the year. Or even string up clothesline in the basement and have the clothes air dry.

Am I ranting? Clearly this is a topic dear to my heart :)

I like fresh sheets off the clothesline .I dont own a dryer dont need one. The sun shines at least once a week that does the trick.

I'm planning to hang a line in the rafters over our deck. And will enjoy air drying at least some of our clothes. I didn't enjoy it as a kid, tho, when I was hanging clothes even in the winter with frozen fingers!!

I totally agree with you here...I hang most of my clothing out, too. Only when we have 2 or 3 days worth of rain will I resort to my dryer. To me, there is nothing better than line-dried sheets and towels...fresh, crisp, bright, and hey, they last twice as long because of it! :) Great Post!

I try very hard to hang most of my clothes also. I just hate having the dryer running when it's 100 degrees outside and I can have 4 loads hanging out there at the same time! I do hang our underwear out there, but usually in the 'inner' parts of the line!
