The turtles are coming! The turtles are coming!

I stood near the pond bank early one morning and spotted this little guy . . . or gal. I watched him/her swim around, up, down, fast and slow. It really was quite a water ballet routine. Not being a turtle expert I grabbed a handful of grass and threw it as hard and as far as I could into the water. Silly grass doesn't lend itself to being thrown very far so I went to get a handful of fish food. When I came back a few moments later this was the scene . . .

They were all lined up like airplanes on a tarmac.

They gobbled that fish food up like they hadn't eaten in days.

And, that is when I realized that the first one I saw wasn't a little guy or gal but probably Ma or Pa Turtle.

How wonderful! I collect "turtle stuff" but don't often get to see live ones... Love that last photo!

So cute! We have three pet turtles 'rescued' by my husband, who finds them while he's doing landscaping work. Your first sentence in this post reminded me of the book "A Fly Went By"...

It starts... "I sat by the lake, and I looked at the sky. And as I looked, a fly went by."

Ha ha!

How fabulous to see that -- and how wonderful that you had the fish food on hand to feed them!

Wow, so they're wild turtles? Too cute, with their little turtle heads popping out of the water!

I have had a lifelong love affair with turtles. They're just the cutest things.

Are they snapping turtles? If so, you sure want to stay clear. Don't snapping turtles eat the fish?

I sometimes see one or two little turtles in our ditch, but as soon as they see me they hide under some leaves... never seen them swimming... Thanks for sharing that!!
