Summer sewing

Boo and I have been sewing up a storm lately. These little sleeping bags were made entirely by her. All 38 of them. Licious needed them for her Littlest Pet Shop animals. Licious made 38 little pillows.

Boo also has become quite a bag lady. The ideas and designs are always 100% her own. She understands basic construction of the bag and even is sure to make a strong sturdy handle that is sewn on well.

And check out her mini quilt! Again, all her own design and construction. We were each sewing on our own machines and when she showed me this I nearly fell out of my chair. The T blocks at the ends?? Shut up! I would have never done something so creative and striking. That girl could teach me a thing or two. And, in fact, she does on a daily basis.

I've been making headbands for both girls to wear. Easy, fast and very cute I think. Now they have lots to choose from.

Finally, I had some scraps leftover from the quilt I made for the giveaway and wanted to use them in a quilt to keep. You can see the Ginger Blossom fabric in the middle. The borders around them are all vintage linens.

Poor picture for what is really a lovely quilt.

I think it is too precious that your girls sew at such a young age. When did you start teaching them? I don't have dqughters to teach but I do have a niece and look very forward to sewing with her someday.
Love your quilt! I really like the extra wide borders.
I'll be ordering more soap soon!

i am wondering if i will begin teching tori to sew yet, not sure if she can sit long enough. she is a fabulous artist. maybe i will start with hand embroidery...have her draw a simple design and then teach her to stitch it in...we will be doing lots of indoor stuff when she comes this winter. i had this awful dream that it was snowing...like today...enough to stick everywhere. the tomatoes, peppers and everything froze...yikes...more like a nightmare......

I too am blown away! I love your daughter's little Halloween quilt. It is so very fun. She obviously has a very fun mom who is willing to teach her this very important skill. There are so few young people who actually know how to sew. Love the quilt you made. Very beautiful.

Boo is so talented! My daughter loves to create as well. It's so positive to be such an inspirational influence in their lives. You are an awesome mother!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this new quilt. How gorgeous! I appreciate the fresh inspiration since I bought a huge stash of Ginger Blossom fabric to console myself over not winning your last quilt. The rose border is absolutely divine.

I love that your girls are sewing. Mine are 5 and 3...do you think that's too young...maybe for some hand sewing. I'm just afraid to start them with a machine yet.

Oh, there will be another Tollipop print give away starting tomorrow. I guess the anticipation was so addictive for my sister and her girls that they are starting another one.

So wonderful that your daughter sews along side you. My daughter sews a bit but I need to get her as comfortable as yours where she just plops down and creates!

My oldest Munchkin sews too! She's just started quilting and designs and selects her own stuff! It's so much fun.

Love the "leftovers" quilt! I do the same thing.

You must be so proud to see your girls following in your creative footsteps!

The quilt is lovely. :-)

Okay--everyone has her own sewing machine?? Brilliant! What are your girls using? As soon as my girls see this post, they are going to be clamoring for sleeping bags for their horde of LP pets.

Fantastic sewing on their part, and your "leftover quilt" is lovely!

So awesome that you sew with your girls. My dd is SO CREATIVE. She always has been. She amazes me with the things she comes up with too, and it's always her own design. So great that the next generation will have lots of creative women! Love the bags, pillows, and quilts. Keep sharing your photos!

those sleeping bags are amazing! Being a new sewer, I've wondered what I could do with my scraps. Sleeping bags for toys, and headbands never crossed my mind!

your little girls are incredible! such creativity in such little people. i love it! i'm continuously working on my quilt. i just finished sewing the 198 pieces together into their 18 rows and now i have to sew those rows together...then the quilting begins!

by the way, your quilt is absolutely beautiful and gently laying on my couch in the living room. everyone who comes buy just drools over and can't believe how amazing it is!

LOVE the headbands!! YOu've got my wheels turning and I think I'll make my own-- some for me and some for my girls!

I want my girls to know how to sew, but I am afraid I don't have the patience or the capability to stand back and let 'em do their own thing. I was a wreck just teaching them how to make 'eye of god' squares with yarn and popsicle sticks!

Gorgeous quilt! If you had never said, I would have never guessed it was made from "leftovers". :o)

Way to go, Boo!! Looks like you've got some good competition on your hands, Dana! It must feel good to see your little ones creating with skills you have taught them.

Love the headbands and the quilt ~ AWESOME! So glad you're keeping it for yourself to enjoy.

How cute, you and your daughters sewing together! My girls want me to teach them how to sew. I've thought about getting my oldest daughter a sewing machine for Christmas this year.

Like mother, like daughter! I love the "leftovers" quilt! Did you just use the ends from your strip piecing? Great idea!

And yes, adorable headbands, I want to make some for myself and my peanut. She request all the time for her hair to be down but it's always in her face. And me? I need them because I need to hide my hair on most days, and I wish I could say it's because I was trying the no-poo thing, but I'm not, I just to get around to doing much with it on most days.

Oh, and I went and bought all the stuff to make my own cleaners today! Yay! Oh, except the essential oil, I've got to find some of that.

You are wealth of great ideas! Thanks for always sharing!

I love that your girls sew. My son would like to learn a bit, but I'm terrified of him using my Bernina! What machine do your girls use?
