Spring that is. I can almost smell Spring.
I smell other things. Like on certain days I can smell the cows across the road. Well, probably not the cows themselves but rather what they leave behind. And, curiously, that doesn't bother me.
At this exact moment I can smell the roast heavily seasoned with dill in the crock pot.
But what I'm talking about today is Spring.
I can almost smell Spring when I walk into my greenhouse and see these pots.
I know they don't look like much right now but they are starting to rumble and rouse. In some pots I can see the tiniest bits of green starting to surface.
And Razor made a raised bed in the second greenhouse over the weekend. I've already planted kale and three different types of lettuce. Don't worry. He added more dirt since I took this photo. Dirt and old, old cow manure from across the street.
Those cows come in handy I tell ya.
Yep. I can almost smell Spring. And it won't be long before birds will find the new homes we recently painted for them.
And I can't hardly wait.

I can hardly wait too! I have a lot longer to wait. . . raised beds are the best! Happy prepping :)
me too! just this morning, my three-year-old said, "Mom, I want to go to Spring." If only it were that simple :)
Spring is definitely here in my neck of the woods. But then, we never really got a fall and winter this year. My pink jasmine vine already has buds on it, and the birds are already out singing like crazy.
Great breeze here in So. Illinois today. Almost 60 F, and the birds are singing, the sun is shining and it's beautiful! (unfortunately, we sometimes have snow in
April!!!) But we can dream...Love the blog.
Thanks, Sharon
Oh I long for Spring with all my heart!
Those gourd bird houses are so fun. I bet you and the girls had a lot of fun making them.
Lucky you to have a greenhouse. The springs starts earlier for you.:)
Yes, spring is coming! Hooray! Keep the pics coming as the little green shoots poke their heads up, will ya? We need some encouragement out here!
so jealous, all we smell in SK is snow and freezing, *sigh makes me miss AB
Awesome bird houses!! We're still covered in snow and ice up here... what I wouldn't give for thawed soil!
Last week, we had some really nice, warm weather and the birds were all excited. I see my hyacinths and daylilies starting to poke their heads up through the ground.
But this week, it's back to winter again, and tomorrow's one of those 40 degree days with winds >20 mph, which will make it seem colder.
Nice to know, though, that there really will be a spring!
Dana I know what you mean about smelling spring! I think I have wanted spring much more this year then most years past. I love the first signs of spring! Hope you are having an awesome week~Tam :D
There is nothing like the promise of spring! I just had the last of my sweet peppers germinate today.... I'm planting tomato seeds tomorrow. Ah, the garden is so cathartic when I can't sit and sew. I hope we get to see more of your plants as they spring up!
I can't wait either! I was out tending my strawberry plants a couple of weeks ago when it was 70 - what a teaser that was! I love my raised beds too. So much less weeding!
Oh, and I'm getting ready for spring cleaning and I made my own cleaners per your post from last summer! Awesome!! Now I don't have to worry about the chemicals when my kids are helping me clean.
Kale! I'm envious. We live farther north and it will be awhile before we have fresh kale! Sigh!
Oh, you have a greenhouse?! How wonderful! One more reason to wish we were neighbors. :)
i can hardly wait too...my dad and i were out surveying the garden today...what we are going to plant where...too early to start, but we can plan!
oh wow, love those painted birdie houses!
