Look there beyond the clothes line. Can you see it?
Razor stayed home while the girls and I went on spring break. He wanted to build them a tree house.
You have to understand something about Razor.
He doesn't do anything half way.
Nothing.
Ever.
And Boo and Licious are thrilled.
Now, can someone please explain the weird behavior of this bluebird?
He and his mate have nested in our yard. And this little sucker puffs himself up and then dive bombs our windows. Mostly in the morning or early evening.
And, he goes from window to window.
Cute little thing. But I worry about his future. He is certainly not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Nice tree house! I think the bird sees his reflection and thinks it's another male, and thus "competition" to be driven away. I might be tempted to put something on those windows for a while to see if it helps. Something to keep him from seeing his reflection, or maybe just some shapes of other (bigger) birds to throw him off. Good luck!
um, dana, um, um, can you send your hubby up this way??? cuz my little tate talks CONSTANTLY about "his treehouse." who lives there, what he does there, what is in the fridge. he draws pictures of it..... but we don't have one. and THAT ONE is AWESOME. in fact, i might just pack up my stuff and move in. i have a little soft spot for treehouses myself.....
It looks like our husbands both have a case of playhouse fever. Either that or just softies for their girls. Love the new tree house. It's amazing.
Oh, and the bird, maybe he's not stupid. Maybe he's the bravest bird. You know, always trying to fight the humans who are invading "his" territory. Haaha.
Happy Day to you, and I can't even thank you enough for your package of goodies & my newest friend. I have him perched right at my desk. The girls love him too. Big hugs to you. Thanks my friend. You made my day.
Holy cow! he built them that fabulous playhouse!! Zowie.
A lot of male birds fly into windows thinking there's another male to fight with. lol We had cardinals that did it every year!!! You think they'd learn...
That is the most awesome tree house ever!!!!
dana have the same problem at my house. Red Breasted Robins they do this to my car and home. Great tree house.
You won, you won, at one shabby chick, that tree house is marvelous. great job. Girls, you are gonna have a blast, well if ya get rid of the bird. Can't have him peeking in on all that girlie stuff.
Amazing treehouse. The bluebird is trying to scare away "the other male" aka his reflection!!
WOW - the treehouse is AWESOME. Razor is pretty awesome too!
XXOO
Omg what an amazing tree house! I just went to the library and saw plans for building play houses and I said to myself 'someday'. This looks like something out of those books but better. Lots more character. I love it. Lucky girls :)
PS. Love the blue bird.
Wow. Nice tree house. Really. I think it's better built than my little house (you know, the one I love in).
And the bluebird...he must have a big ol' streak of jealousy in him to fight with his reflection all day. Silly bird.
Oooh, I love that sweet little bird. We have some bluebirds around here too and their vibrant blue astounds me everytime. My windows are never clean enough for anyone to see a reflection...
That tree house is AMAZING! I love the siding! Are you planning some fabulous interior decorating?
That's so cool! I can build a tree house in one week, too! Ha! Not! I bet your girls are just beaming with excitement! :)
Amazing tree house!!! Strangely, I never have birds crash into my windows...that probably means they are dirty. Or maybe because my cat's official post is the windowsill...I think he sits there hoping that a bird will crash into the window, then drop dead to the ground, then he would go outside and retrieve it and deceptively drop it at my feet, as if....
You took some fabulous pics of that pretty little bird!
Wow - that tree house is fantastic - I can't wait till our kiddos are old enough to enjoy one.
Your pictures as usual are great!
That Tree House is AMAZING!
What a treat for the girls to come home to such an awesome surprise!!!
He's the best! What a fun tree house - they are going to move the fairy's in and you will not see them all summer :)
About the bird - maybe you should feed him, you know, a little peace offering!
so awesome. wow, what a dad! i can just imagine the initial joy of your girls in discovering it and the many wonderful times they will share up there.
and the little bluebird is darling--i've never seen such a bird--how i would adore one in my backyard!
You have two of the luckiest kids in the world! What an AWESOME tree house!
I can see why they stayed in it all day-NICE!!
Oh my gosh!!!! I can't believe he built that for his kids! Now I'm crying.... soooo sweet. We had a brown robin that did that same thing all summer last year. I took it as my sign that it was time to start my blog and open up an etsy shop. My daughter would say... "there goes that crazy robin again, mom."
Can we see the inside?? Please please please will you invite us in?
I know the children will enjoy the tree house... I always wanted one...LOL
we have a divebombing bluebird too...stuns himself over and over. i feel bad for him....fabulous tree house...my dad is a lot like your razor...does it up right!
wow!awesome tree house! yeah razor! what a dad! the girls will have years of fun and enjoyment up there. their secret place, sanctuary...unbelieveable...but then i remember the play house my dad built for me and my sisters. it was huge...10" x 10" with windows an all sides and a double dutch door. the times we had in there. we even had electricity in it but he wouldnt give us a tv or fridge...meanie...althou we spent most of our time at the beach.
LOVE the treehouse. Please post some "indoor" pics as well :). We have the same issue with a bluebird here. I'm going to hang some suncatchers on my windows to see if that helps.
Hello Dana, love the tree house it is a wee ripper.....we have a similar problem with a mud lark....he dive bombs the side mirrors on my car.......Regards Lyn
What a marvelous tree house! Razor sounds like my husband...I asked for a simple, maybe old used barnwood chicken coop for my new flock of 12 chickens. What I got was a state of the art, first class chicken house! Pics on my blog... I thoroughly enjoyed your pics of the treehouse AND the beautiful Blue bird!!
Great treehouse! When I was a kid I had to do with a few planks placed in the fork of the tree with more planks nailed to the trunk as "steps". With this house I would have been in seventh heaven! So Cool!
awesome.
