Outside

We are an outdoorsy family. I mean, at least some portion of each day is spent outside. Luckily we live in a climate that isn't too hot in summer, nor too cold in winter.

And lately we've been spending even more time outside.

Drying herbs.

Tending to flowers.

Admiring new thrift store finds.

And just generally enjoying ourselves.

Truth be told, however, the main reason we have been spending so much time outside has something to do with two little black furry things.

looks like you guys are having a great summer, especially with new puppies! Cute jars of dried herbs too, aren't they even tastier when you dry them yourself?

I am so jealous! The weather here in Florida is just oppressive for about 5-6 months out of the year. I will enjoy being outside through your blog posts!

I, too, an envious of your climate. We are in the middle of 100 degree temps with super high humidity in Texas. yuck.

Summer is the best! Though I have to get my outside time in early in the day, it's hard to do anything when it's 95. cute puppies! What's your plan with the window - it's fab :)

Great pics. I really love the one of your daughter FLYING out of the swing. That is great! I also love the new window in the garden, what a find!

I don't blame y'all in the least! Those pups are too cute.

I wish we had better summers. I don't like the TX humidity when it is 100 out!

I could use some help with herbs. I have a few plants growing and I haven't a clue what to do with them. I can do the drying thing...cool dark place (right?) but it there anything else I should know? Any secret recipes or special tricks you'd be willing to share? E-mail me if you don't mind: sasmo21@hotmail.com. Thanks.

Dana,
What kind of dogs are these? Will they get big? What did you name them?

Gosh, they just keep getting cuter! (That would be the puppies and your girls.)

Love the herbs. Love the flowers. LOVE the window. Love the happy kids. And good grief! THOSE DOGS!!!

I need to pick your brain about drying herbs - specifically lavendar and tarragon....

Great herb labels - any tips on drying? We have the dehydrator -but last year things got funky so we did something wrong some step of the way.

Just found your blog yesterday and have really enjoyed reading it. I have a lot of the same interests as you, though doing them on a different continent at the moment (grew up in Maryland, live in Ireland now!).

I have two daughters as well, and wish I was more mindful in my blog about appreciating the time I have with them while they are still young, it goes so fast, you do that so well in your blog! Having just been diagnosed this year with MS I really do need to slow down and appreciate and be grateful to be doing things with them as this is no longer a guarantee going forwards, yikes!

I love thrifting and yard saling when home in the States and love the charity shops here though finding secondhand things here is more of a challenge, flea markets and car boot sales are hard to find and yard sales don't exist... My best score in the States: a Singer Featherweight for $3 that works!!

Like you my main passion with crafting is quilting, though I lean towards the more old fashioned fabrics, I do love the modern quilts you are doing on here. I also love knitting and hope to do more paper crafting with card making...

Anyway, sorry for the epic novel here, just wanted to say I've enjoyed going through your blog in the last day and hope you continue blogging for a long time, you have a great honest way of blogging and I like it.
