Bonfires mean only one thing

Bonfires mean only one thing at our house. And although a large majority of them happen in the fall, bonfires in and of themselves do not mean fall.

And although a bonfire is often the result of a hard day of yard work around these parts, this family does not define bonfire as yard work.

Rather, bonfires mean s'mores.

And because of this fundamental truth, I love bonfires.

Oh, you really need to have toasted peeps at your next bonfire. The sugar kinda caramelizes around the marshmallow peep. Mmmmm, good. Especially good for stale peeps ;) Careful though, that sugar coating can get hot. Also sometimes makes the flames turn interesting colors while toasting.

Bonfires are the best fall activity, IMO. We have a family bonfire every October near Halloween, can't wait!
and S'mores are the best!

Since I've moved to the States, everyone's been on my case to try smores. I'm afraid... I KNOW I'll like them!

Our family loves bonfires also. We usually have on to celebrate our time spent with our company. This summer we had one just for the two of us and my husbands sister and husband that was visiting. Just went out back and sat and chatted. It is very relaxing. Also had on when my dad came to visit and had all his grand children and great grand children over. Here are some marshmallow faces at my site.http://brtowsleyblogs.blogspot.com/2009/07/some-marshmallow-eaters.html

wish we were still able to have bonfires, but alas we got dumped on by snow last night. As I speak my son is shoveling...just not right in October! but great quilting weather!

Oh me too! I could just eat smores until my tummy hurts...and usually that's what I do...but nonetheless, they are absolutely yummy!

Well you can't have a bonfire without the s'mores that is for sure! I just don't happen to like Milk Chocolate bars and I'm always looking for a good substitute - how about Reese's PB Cups???

when mark's son comes to visit he loves to make fires in the fire ring he built...and of course the end result of almost every fire for jayde is smores...i mean, isnt that what fires were meant for anyway, i mean, really :-)

Oh, my, what I wouldn't do for Smores right now!

At the risk of sounding silly - but in my defence, I do read this from the increasingly sunny climes of Melbourne, Australia - could someone please describe what smores are exactly? I'm pretty sure I want to work out how to try them!
