Dear Future #4

(Every now and then I write a letter to my daughters. For them to read in the future. I just want them to know some things about their mother. This is one of them.)

I'm not so good with change. Change of routine. Change of personality. Change of what I know.

Well, it's not so much that I'm not so good with change. I mean change is good. I always love to rearrange a room and change it up a bit. What I mean is that it takes me longer to adjust to some kinds of changes than I would like.

You girls change sometimes before I'm even aware it is happening. I'm still operating under the "old" way and find myself frustrated, confused and down right befuddled that you've changed without me knowing it.

My greatest goal in life is to be the best mother to the two of you. I try each day to let you be the people that you are. The changing people that you are.

I just wish I'd snap to quicker sometimes and realize that you are changing . . . or rather . . . growing, discovering, experimenting, and transforming right before my very eyes. Every. Single. Day.

And I'm just gonna have to deal with it.

Love,
Mom

Interior shots not so easy

Inside shots of the tree house are not so easy.

I should have used my wide angle lens but I was too lazy to climb down and get it. Totally lame. I know.

But it might be just as well because when the girls found out I took photos of the inside they were mortified. They wanted it to be completely finished before I did such a thing.

Sheesh.

Anywho. (My grandma used to say that all the time. She would also tell people that were standing when she was sitting to, "Sit down before you fall down". That saying always made me laugh in an uncomfortable nervous kind of way. I don't know why. Anywho. I digress.)

This is the entrance when it is open.

And when it is closed.

Razor is going to complete the inside bench and the porch railings this weekend. I promise to take better shots then. Of course I'll have to get permission first . . .

Tree house and bluebird

Look there beyond the clothes line. Can you see it?

Razor stayed home while the girls and I went on spring break. He wanted to build them a tree house.

You have to understand something about Razor.

He doesn't do anything half way.

Nothing.

Ever.

And Boo and Licious are thrilled.

Now, can someone please explain the weird behavior of this bluebird?

He and his mate have nested in our yard. And this little sucker puffs himself up and then dive bombs our windows. Mostly in the morning or early evening.

And, he goes from window to window.

Cute little thing. But I worry about his future. He is certainly not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Spring break was . . .

Spring break was filled with good things.

Learning to make egg rolls with Chef Rich. Thanks Chef!

Hunting for Easter eggs.

Going on long walks.

Picking bouquets.

Scootering with Uncle Jeff.

Laying by the pond.

Catching pollywogs.

Playing at the shore.

And fishing.

Good, good stuff I tell ya.

Sham-a-lama

Kirsten, of Tollipop, is an amazing artist. Amazing artist is an understatement. I have some of her work hanging in my sewing craft space. I love it. And she is having a killer giveaway on her blog.

And these lockets?? Get out. They put the sham-a-lama in the ding dong. For real.

Pretty quilts for the break

The girls and I are headed out for spring break. Razor is staying home and working on a few projects . . . I believe a tree house is in the works.

This is my first king sized quilt.

And this one is the long awaited quilt for Papa's 60th birthday. That was in January. Better late than never, right?

I'll be back in a week with new photos and stories and memories. And some big things on the horizon.

Fairyland

I've been working in the greenhouses alot lately.

Starting seeds. Repotting plants. Cleaning up and hauling out.

The other day as I was tending to the kale and lettuce, Boo and Licious were busy over by the potting shed. I didn't know just what they were up to but I was peppered with requests for things every few minutes.

"Mom can we use some potting soil?"

"Mom, do you have any string that we could use?"

"Hey Mom? Do you think if we planted this stick it would grow into a tree?"

"Mom, do you have anything that would work as a small swimming pool?"

"Mom? Do you think that fairies dry their clothes on a laundry line?"

So then I ask, "Where do you suppose the fairies hide? Under the thicket of spring plants?"

And they say, "No. We are pretty sure they dance among the tulips."

They could very well be right. But, I think a few must live in the greenhouses. How else can I explain this bloom?
