Double trouble

School was canceled today. You'd laugh if you saw how little snow it takes to call off school here.

I tried to take pictures of the snow. But couldn't really find any.

No joke.

Anyway. We've had chocolate chip cookies on the brain since making them over the weekend. So, we made a double batch today.

Can someone please answer me this? Why do I eat so much chocolate chip cookie dough that by the time the first batch comes out of the oven I can't eat any? And my stomach aches. Will I ever learn?

-dana

P.S. Don't let the dainty and polite little hand trying to catch the crumbs in the above photo fool you. That kid drops crumbs . . .Everywhere. She. Goes. Whether she is eating or not.

You are right, I would laugh about the school getting cancelled. THe whole time my girls have been in school, we have never had a snow day. I remeber having a couple when I was in elementary school, but we had TONS of snow! I remember one year, our front lawn snow was taller than I was and we dug tunnels through it. And everyone had to shovel the snow off their roofs because it was too heavy, in fact I think I remember my Dad attempting to haul the snowblower up to the roof and it dropped and totally bent it. I think that same year, I went up to my friend's dad's house in Park City and they had even more, it was like we were walking through a tunnel just to get to the front door! We haven't had that much snow for a long time though.

I don't have a problem eating the dough, I just eat way too many cookies! :)

Kay, I will stop typing now :)

I had to comment about eating the cookie dough! I do that too and my husband has to take the bowl away from me and finish baking the cookies because I have no self control! :)

I have the same problem making cookies. The dough always tastes better anyway.

My sick-at-home husband is asking for sugar cookies, but after this post I only want chocolate chip. I too eat enough dough to get a tummy ache. One time I used incredible self restraint and didn't eat any raw dough, but I still felt like I ate the dough, it was sooo strange.

Google "cookie dough truffles" and make them. You will hear angels sing!

I would ask you to come here with cookies for us, but we've baked so many in the last few months that my gut is pushing out over the tops in my pants since there's no more room left. egads. I need you to come over to my blog and weigh in on a decision, friend.

Would you like some snow Dana? I'll trade you for some chocolate chip cookies! We have over 5 feet to share, so let me know how much you would like!

We were expecting a whole load of snow, but got the kinda stuff that melts on contact with the ground so there's nothing! Yay!!

I can't eat raw dough... there's something about it that I can't handle. But my husband... he eats all my dough! If I didn't wield my wooden spoon, I'd never get any cookies baked lol

because the dough IS the cookie ... that baked thing that comes afterward is just a bonus! at least, that's how i see it :)

I so love the dough too. <3 If the recipe yields 24 cookies I usually end up only making 12. Whoops. ;) Stay warm!

My husband loves cookies that "melt" like that. Mine always stay the same shape. Would you mind posting your recipe?

I agree with Sarah. The cookies are so a bonus. My kids are cookie dough tasters, but I am the master dough taster in the kitchen. ;)

Uggg, I do it too! Can't resist the dough and then can't eat the cookies...well at least not for an hour or so :)
No school here either, four days so far this week but with a total of 32 or so inches on the ground!

I remember my kids having snow days with little snow and yet when the ice storms hit we were all expected to troop on out....

The dough is the cookie in it's purest form.

Yummy. I love cookie dough so much more than the cookies! I am a big fan of baking on snow days, cookies or chicken n' dumplins is a must. :)

Dana - I completely understand about the cookie dough... I do the same thing... I want to make the cookies, then don't want to eat any because I've eaten so much dough... last time we had a snow day we made chocolate chip cookies too! :0)

we recently just transplanted to cheyenne, wyoming. in the first couple of weeks here there were four inches of snow on the ground & when i called to see if school was cancelled, they laughed at me! seriously! my van slid backwards going up a hill to take my kid to school ... but they haven't cancelled a day yet. i'd love a snow day with him at home ...

Two days before Christmas I enjoyed the fantastic cookie dough I was preparing...and Christmas Eve I lay awake all night fighting nausea. I'm guessing the eggs had salmonella. I'll never eat raw cookie dough again. No matter how tasty!

Hi, Dana . . . If you get the chance, take a peek at my blog: www.prairiemoonquilts.com . I’m passing on an award to you. Don’t feel obligated to continue it on, I just want you to know how much I enjoy reading your blog! Thanks!

Those cookies look scrumptious! And as far as that crumb-catching hand goes... at least she puts up a good front for your audience! : )

Have a wonderful weekend!

Oh this post hit so close to home. When I was pregnant with my first child, I craved chocolate chip cookies. So I made a double recipe of Toll House. You know the one that's on the back of the bag of chips.

I ate so much dough that I think I only got about 2 dozen cookies out of that entire bag. Needless to say I was really, REALLY SICK! Ended up at my OBGYN who gave me suppositories to stop the vomiting! I never understood that one :-)

I still eat the dough but don't EVER eat the finished cookies.
