Roundabout quilt

It was strange. This quilt.

I had a back-and-forth love/hate kind of relationship with it while making it.

Loved the design. Loved the fabric.

Hated the curved piecing. But loved the curved piecing.

Sort of half way hated each completed block. Then grew to love them.

Hated it while quilting it. Love it now that it is finished. And almost love the back more than the front.

Almost.

P.S. Made following the tutorial found on A Common Place Life.

I haven't tried curved quilting yet... it seems very intimidating! But, your project turned out beautiful! It has a retro look to me, which I love almost all things retro!

I can totally see what you're saying...I don't know that curved piecing is in my future...it's just too.... round...
I know I don't make sense, but I know what I mean :)
and I know what you mean too :)

Love it - especially how the quilting offsets the curviness. Way to pull through!

Great quilt! I love then hate then love all my projects. I'm too scared to try curved piecing yet. I'm so thrilled you finished this. Love it!

I love it. And I go through the same with my quilts. The one I'm working on right now, I've loved and hated at least twice over today alone :)

Dana, I love the quilt! I also love your honesty :) It makes me not feel alone that I have love/hate relationships with my projects haha!

I probably would have just done applique... good for you with all those curves (and I mean on the quilt)

You expressed just what I feel when I'm quilting. Most of the time I don't like what I'm doing at all until it is completely finished and I'm using it. I'm just baffled by this.

I think it came out splendidly!

And I totally understand your thoughts on the curved piecing. I've just finished revising the pattern - but this time I used seam allowances (and make the block size bigger). The piecing is really much easier this way - but I had to use much more fabric.

I loved this quilt when I saw Amy's. It's so great! And I love your interpretation of it! Is it snowing at your house?

Looks great! Haven't tried curved piecing yet - been a bit busy with house and chemo stuff.
You have green grass! (We do too - very odd for Melbourne in Feb - should be brown and dry)

I truly believe that we have reached the point where technology has become one with our lives, and I am fairly confident when I say that we have passed the point of no return in our relationship with technology.

I don't mean this in a bad way, of course! Ethical concerns aside... I just hope that as technology further develops, the possibility of uploading our brains onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It's one of the things I really wish I could see in my lifetime.

Holy moly! I am completely transfixed by that pattern! So complex...yet so simple. I can see the love/hate thing going on.

Its an inspirational piece! Makes me want to go work on my easy-peasy Around the World I've got cooking. Nice work!

I saw that you were doing this, so I went to the tutorial and made a top myself. It's just at quilt-top stage, so I'm not sure I'm loving it yet. Still in that love/hate situation. I'll let you know how it ends up. Yours looks lovely. It gives me hope!
