I can so empathize... I didn't have a bike til I was almost 30 for the same reason...she is doing so much better than I, though at least now the tires are better for the rough stuff (and wider)!
I think my kids would think she was pretty lucky. All they have is our driveway and culdasac to ride up and down. They get pretty bored. But a bumpy terrane like that looks like fun!
I love it! I learned to ride my bike (at 10) on a 3 mile stretch of bumpy, gravelly dirt roads. It was great. I still don't feel safe riding in the city. ;)
It looks like a lot of fun to me! Well, if I was kid, not so much now. Not a big fan of the inevitable fall- I've been known to be a little clumsy! Very cute pics!
Haha - poor little country girl! No smog, no cars to dodge, no crowds of people. Green spaces all over the place instead of confined to a park. We may have to call those child protection folks! :)

Cute post Dana! I too wish my kids had more than a little sidewalk to ride on :) Hope you were able to save your flowers!

I didn't have pavement to ride my bike while growing up, but I did have some good calve muscles!
She'll be a better biker for it ;)
Just how warm and dear she looks, country life suits her indeed.
with love,
Olivia
Um...I say LUCKY kid!! We live on a dirt road too and it didn't stop them...but the hills....the hills did it!:)
I think it looks more fun in the dirt then on concrete. Much prettier too :)
What a trooper and none the worse for the wear! :) She is a cutie!
I am sure that deep down she wouldn't have it any other way!! She sure does look happy!!Thank God for country kids!!!
Oh to be that young again! What fun!

rich as kings, i'd say.
AND, she's gonna end up with some rockin' calves ;-)
She doesn't look too unhappy to me!
Just think...lots of fresh air and sunshine...steep hills and inclines...rocks and grass...blue sky and wind in her hair. Memories of a lifetime.
Free and easy!
I had such a flashback to my childhood. we lived by a railway track, and our road for the first 4 or so years was gravel......
what fun we had with our rickety old bicycles, and old worn out baby buggy (that we converted into a dune buggy)...
good simple fun!!

What A good life when she gets older she will look back and thank you it just reminded me of my childhood I loved it.
Hugs Mary.
I think we country girls developed a lot of character learning to ride on the bumpy, gravel roads. She's having a blast!
I have been reading your blog for a few years now and I still love it today just as much as I did back then!
I never had concrete to ride on either! But I think it makes for more fun!
No endless miles of concrete=one lucky little country girl...
(speaking from experience)
:)
Good thing mountain biking is an Olympic sport now!
