A different kind of quilt
My kids' school has the coolest elective program for 5th through 8th graders. This semester offered fishing, puppetry, book binding, nature trails and quilt blocking. I'll give you three guesses to figure out who taught the quilt one.
Counties all across USA have similar quilt blocks on barns, old buildings, homes and businesses. We thought it was time these giant quilt blocks made it to our county.
This one hangs now hangs at the school.
And this 4 foot x 4 foot Delectable Mountain block now hangs on my barn.
Cause I conveniently had the perfect location. Funny how that worked out.

That is so cool! I am curious what they are made of. I have a perfect spot on my house and would like to make one.
Gorgeous! Maybe I don't have to have a barn....?
Way to go!! Cool!!!
lovely. wish i had a barn to hang one on
What a great idea!
I can think of so many great uses for one of these!!!
We need a tutorial!!
Blessings!~
Lovely!!! You are giving me an idea for our shed!!!
We have those quilt squares on barns around here where I live. I love them and it makes me wish I had a barn. Yours is supercool!
Wonderful! And how "lucky" you had such a good location for a block. It looks so pretty!
Please, please, please tell us how to do this! I want one for our Fishing Hut!
I love it. It's such a nice idea. Is it painted or is it blocks of wood?
wow, the barn quilts look great! I've never seen one in real life though, I bet its fantastic!
I SO love this. Last year, we visited our friends' new farm in Eastern KY. That was the first time I had seen quilt blocks on barns and so forth. I loved it. As a new quilter, it certainly caught my eye.
Very nice! Love your barn too!
I have always loved those wooden squares on barns along the country backroads!
How fitting ;)
Just love it! I wonder how one would look above my garage in a suburban neighborhood?
fishing, puppetry, book binding, nature trails and quilt blocking--- Where do you live because I want to move there! Our school doesn't have any of that, they don't even have art or music! JEALOUS!
Oh man. How cool is that! :o)
I LOVE THEM!!!
The only quilt blocks on barns in my area are actually painted on the barn itself. Would you consider doing a post with the basics of how you did this?
That is TOO cool! Love it!

I love your quilt blocks!! I am proud to say there is a quilt trail near my house that I enjoy each day :)
take care

I know exactly what you mean about quilt squares on barns and such. I loved the idea so much that I decided to paint quilt squares on my bee hives this year so I could have my own quilting-bees!

(The board that is running through the design has long-since been removed. )
Our LQS has three on the outside of there building. They used fabric for there and they are sealled with something but when i asked about them I got a strange answer and that wasn't an answer. Bummer did I mention they are not my favorite shop!
I really like yours on the barns very cooll!!
Very cool! Sounds like your school knows how to make learning FUN!!
