Start to finish

I pieced this scrappy 9 patch quilt top last summer.

And just last weekend I was lucky enough to get to use my friends' long arm quilting machine to quilt it.

Who-hoo!  It was fun!

Now the thought of machine quilting on my sewing machine leaves me tired.  And sore.  But one is waiting in the wings so I better get over it.

Oh, YUM. Love your border! I've not played with a longarm yet, but you make it very tempting indeed.

I feel the same way...I love free motion quilting, but after using my mom's short arm quilter, wadding up a quilt to squeeze under my machine doesn't sound quite as appealing! Guess I need to plan more out-of-state trips to visit her...

Your quilt is lovely.

I bought a "mid arm" machine and a frame a few years ago. It certainly makes finishing less daunting.

Your quilt looks great! How fun to get to use a long arm! I am thinking of renting some time on one to finish a few of my quilts, it takes me a week to quilt a lap quilt on my machine.

Love it! I'm jealous that you got to play on a longarm. I bet it does make for an unhappy transition back to a home machine...

Very pretty! I have a top that needs to be finished, and a top that is only half put together... AND several blocks which are in process still... three separate quilts and none finished yet! UGH!

WOW! That is really awesome!! I love everything about this quilt! The front, the back, the binding, the quilting!! EVERYTHING!! I tried to make a 9 patch quilt and ended up throwing in the towel and improvising and only using what 9-patches I had done. They are so time consuming! This is gorgeous!

Wowee zowee! I love how a simple scrappy nine-patch gets all glam with some white sashing and some great machine quilting..good job! I haven't finished mine yet, but it's my favorite autumn colors.

Thanks for the nudge to finish it!

Oh Dana, that quilt is amazing. I'm so in love with it. You did a great job. Isn't Long-arm quilting great? Luckily I have Shenleigh to do mine for me because my arthritic hands can't cope with machine quilting!!
Did I mention how amazing your quilt is??

Dana, I am IN LOVE with this quilt...everything about it
...the colorful 9 patches, the white sashing, the border, the binding, the backing, the quilting. I'm gonna have to get me one!!!

I love this! Was this Amanda Jean's quiltalong from last summer? I have my 9-patches completed but haven't sewn them together yet.

I'm not comfortable using anyone's longarm, but would love to see one in action. Then again, it'd probably ruin me for domestic machine quilting, too.

I thought I'd made a comment on this allready.. but can't see it.. anyhow. LOVELY !! I did like this quilt when you first showed it but the quilting on it is lovely too. I am glad it is all finished! Are you keeping it?

Gorgeous! Love that border, and the backing is awesome! I love the quilting design you used. That must have been fun to finish this one with a long arm quilting machine. I've always wanted to try one of those.

Looks great! I still have one to finish from Amanda Jeans 2nd nine-patch one-a-day. Impressive finish! Now, go tackle that other one! =)

What a wonderful selection for the binding...from far it looks like a blanket stitch and up close like you have scalloping on it! Very cool! Hope to jump in the next quilt along in Aug. I've got two of these quilt along quilts nearly finished piecing....I need to get my butt in gear...one of them WILL get done because I want to give it for a baby gift in Sept.

The quilt looks great. Especially hanging on the line. I think I need a line just to hang quilts so I can take pictures of them.

Long-arm machines are dreamy. And make one spoiled. I miss being near my mom's, and I wasn't even really quilting then!
