The only reason I vacuum!

I love the title! :o)
Will you be hand quilting or machine quilting? I just recently learned how to tape down the back of the quilt and then pin it all together. My quilting mentor believes in teaching me by hands on practice! :o) I am grateful that she does. It really sticks with me.

You and me both! I'm drooling to see your end result, it's going to be so pretty!

totally agree. You wouldn't want a dirty quilt now, would you? Rest of the time those dust bunnies can keep on growing ;)

Hang on - have some of those blocks just got one X instead of the *? Oh my, I can't WAIT to see more!!!!

I love a pieced back! Wish I had that much flat floor in my house. I have to use a carpeted room so that means vacuuming, a least liked chore. Nice X's!

LOL! Me too!!!

I just rolled up the carpet (and ignore the grainy feeling on my feet0 to make space for the quilt and just hope that its clean enough to lay the backing (knowing that it will be washed later).

too funny!

Cherie said...

Yep, it's the only reason for me too, although a little dog hair never hurt a quilt!

Whew! Glad I'm not the only one that has this philosophy! ;)

Too funny! I was planning on mopping today for that very reason! :-)

Thank goodness I don't have to - I have two large tables in the basement!
Sweet quilt Dana!

Hehehehehehe - even better, my husband does the mopping! He did the sanding of our floors, we tung oiled them, he likes to keep them nice and clean!
Looks like you've had some fun with your asterisk quilt :-)

That's funny because I so would've pegged you as Risky Business/Pete Seager dancing in shirts and underwear kind of family - clean floor makes for easier sock-dancing. :-)

Can't wait to see how the quilt turns out!

It's the only respectable reason.

I use two folding tables from walmart side by side. I clamp the backing to the tables with clamps also from Walmart. I pin rather obsessively but then again I dont get puckers in my quilting. I dont love mopping but I might do it more if I pinned on the floor.

ha ha - Just did the same thing yesterday on my kitchen floor - had to move the table out of the way!

WendyLou said...

Hahahaha!! So, SO true!!

scottylover said...

Lovely! Both the floors and the quilt! :) I don't have floor space big enough to do it that way, so mine are all pin basted on a sewing cutting board (you know the cardboard fold out kind) and I pray for the best! LOL

Thanks for sharing, can't wait to see the finished project!

Amen!!

This made me laugh. I was so excited when my husband mopped last week--I got quilts out to baste immediately. He laughed!

I think I wouldn't mind mopping so much if I had those lovely wooden floor boards.

Ha ha! I love your philosophy !

So true! The only reason the my iron ever comes out is to press fabric!

Meg said...

And such a pretty reason, too!

Elissa said...

oh and such a better reason than my usual ones: spilled milk (again) or tinkle (not mine). ;-)

lol....

I could only add doggy accidents to the list of reasons to mop.

Oh, and having folks over, which is maybe twice a year!

KateKwiltz said...

ha! me too!

I'm totally with you on this! I mopped one day and then thought "well the floor is clean I guess I HAVE to baste a quilt while that is true". So I ignored everything else that was in desperate need of cleaning and went ahead.

eva said...

.......and such a good reason too.......

Amen! Love how your asterisk quilt is turning out. I have a pile of solids, but I haven't cut into them yet. I actually will have to quilt AFTER the quilt-along is over, b/c I'm on vacation till the beginning of Aug. But, seriously, look what you started, Dana, with all the ORB quilt-alongs. Amazing.
