Stars on gray
This is the third online quilting bee quilt that I have made. You can see the first here and the second here.
And I solicited your advice on how to finish it here and got lots and lots of great suggestions. I thoughtfully considered each idea. In fact, I grabbed each one by the shoulders and looked it straight in the eye. Even laid them out on the floor to see what they would look like.
But when it came right down to it, anything more was too busy. And it took away from the lovely stars on the field of gray.
Since my original plan was a scrappy border around the stars, I at least honored that notion on the back.
And this quilt is by far my most favorite of my quilting bee quilts. I adore it. Thank you to each of the women that made a block.

I love this quilt!! I think what makes it different are the colors, and especially the background. Great choice, because the stars seem to float on top of the background. I love it! I also really like the back, how you pieced it. I like to do that to some of my quilts. I really want to make a quilt but can't until the new year because I have 2 more intricate blessing gowns to make :)
I LOVE the grey! I think grey might be my new favorite neutral right now. And it stays a lot cleaner than white :)
Dana, it's beautiful... strong and quiet.
I love it and the back is perfect!
Definitely a beautiful quilt! Love the grey and the green/blue combo!
Mmmm-mmm, good! It's a great looking quilt, I agree. Glad it was such an enjoyable experience!
I just love quilts sashed in grey! Love the stars, love the scrappy binding!
Yay! I turned out beautifully! I LOVE the scrappy binding!!! : )
Gray with stars- sounds a lot like where I live! :D It's a great looking quilt!
Dana it is beautiful!
I love it! I think the gray is perfect and the scrappy binding is yummy!
It turned out great! And you didn't even have to make any of those annoying piano stripes that some crazy people suggested (I mean me, so please, no one get offended). ;)
Love it! You absolutely made the right choice.
Now THAT is a beauty! Love it Dana!
Beautiful quilt... I'm inspired.
your quilts are always perfect! this one too - I like that you didn't do the scrappy border, it looks so great as it is ;)
Hahaha....thought you didn't have any more grey?!;)
That is definitely how that quilt wanted to be finished! Great job kiddo! Maybe I'll get to see it in person next month...I just need to get our tickets for Talladega!;)
Like my three year old would say,"This quilt is beautiful!" You're making me want a star quilt right now in those exact colors. In fact, that exact quilt would work just fine.
I love it! It is so pretty! You done good, so pat yourself on the back and have a treat! LOL

Wow - they grey really makes the stars shine!
Dana, I'm so glad you posted this today! I was just wondering how it was coming along and I LOVE it!!! It looks so amazing. I want a star quilt now too. I too love the gray background!! I'm super hapy to have abeen a part of it! :)
PS - sorry about the lame typos.
Simply gorgeous.
It's my favorite of the three as well. It's just gorgeous. Just curious if you gave the blue and green fabrics to the participants or just the grey. Is it Kona charcoal? I love the colors! Great job, Dana!
It's pretty flippin' amazing! Grey is not usually the neutral that I would pick, but it's perfect here and really shows the quilting to advantage.
i love it. i *heart* gray. it's almost like red. only less, you know, RED.
fab dana.
B-U-TI-FUL!!!! truly. honestly. deeply.
i absolutely love it, dana! i'm so happy to have added my missouri star!
The quilt is sooooo beautiful!
I absolutely love it, Dana.
So much, in fact, you should be thankful that I don't live close to you or I'd be sneaking in to steal it. :-) You're welcome.
i have a new appreciation for grey!
Beautiful!! Love it :)

What a gorgeous quilt!
This is a gorgeous quilt! You are inspiring me to join an online quilting bee!
I remember this post from when I was brand-new to quilting, and I love it even more now. Do you know the names of all the stars (to be totally high-maintenance?)
