Quilt interruption

I'm interrupting my one photo a day in June deal-io because I want to share this quilt.

And the amazing quilting.

The Backporch Quilters know that I love intricate and jam packed quilting and they surely did not disappoint on this puppy.

Behold!

I decided I wanted to make this type of cross quilt a few weeks ago and I also decided I wanted it out of this particular fabric.  The only trouble was that I didn't own any of the fabric.  Thanks to some generous fabric swaps with the likes of Greta and Dana, I instantly had enough!

I'm thinking about putting this in my Old Red Barn Co. Quilt Shop but I'm hesitating due to the glaring error.  If you didn't instantly see it in the first photo you won't hurt my feelings if you scroll back up and study it more closely.  I'll wait . . .

See what I'm talking about?

I like little quirks with handmade goods but don't know if anyone else will consider it a charming quirk or just a crying shame and reason enough not to buy it.

Then again, maybe I'm just looking for a reason to keep it.

Decisions.  Decisions.

Stop in tracks... scroll back... stare for five minutes... Oh THAT! You crazy?, that wasn't a mistake, that was a design opportunity and I personally think the quilt wouldn't be the same without it.

Must look like a design opportunity to me, I don't see. Of course I'm not going to spend 5 min. looking for a mistake either. I think you just want to keep it. Nothing wrong with that! Nita

haha! yes. I see it. No I don't think it would stop me from loving it. I think I would want to keep it too!
question: how big did you make your charm squares in this quilt? I've been hoarding my AMH garden party for just such a quilt but have been really on the fence as to what block size to cut. so in the meantime I've started 22 other projects!

Another great quilt Dana! I love every bit of it. And the fabric you used on the back is to die for. :)

Call me slow, but I'm totally not seeing it. Meanwhile, I love the quilting. She's a beauty!

Holy Batman that was fast. Weren't you just cutting pieces for this like a week ago? I'm glad it worked out and that you were able to find all the fabric you needed for this one. Oh and that glaring mistake took me forever to find and I'm still not sure it's a mistake. I think it looks great! I for one like to throw something like that in to all of my quilt because a) they usually just happen and b) no one else usually sees it until you point it out and so if you don't it is like a fun little secret between you and the quilt. Love that fabric on the back too. I used the same print in a different colorway on the back of mine, it just looks so great.

It's lovely looking and you always make beautiful quilts.

That mistake...pfffff, no biggie since it took me forever to see it.

It's unique, it's beautiful, and someone would be lucky to own it (or just let me sneak over and borrow it a bit :D ).

Beautiful fabrics, an awesome quilt but a talented quilter makes it a woohooo moment!

Never would have seen it and I love the pattern! When I call out what I think are glaring mistakes in my quilts, my husband is quick to say nobody would know or that is what makes it different. Of course, when it is my mistake I don't feel that way! "Mistakes" give character =)

it's a beaut Dana! I love those cross quilts and I have 2 DQS quilts to prove it, so I'd say it was a keeper!

Absolute handmade charm, and hardly noticeable. If you don't want to keep it, list it and get some money for more fabric!

Based on the comments and my own observations, I don't think I know what you're talking about mistake-wise, so if there is one, it's either not glaring or I'm a tool. It's gorgeous, really. And I'm not saying that to be nice. It's shop-worthy but it's also keep-worthy.

Can't see it :) in fact, I think it looks perfect!

If ya gotta look that hard is it really an error?
Love it! I hope you keep it :0) and make a "perfect" one for someone else :0)

Happy Sewing

I think it's beautiful and I love the fabrics. You can always say the mistake was on purpose like quilters of the past. And btw I would have not noticed if you hadn't pointed it out.

I'm not seeing it ....I wouldn't blame you for wanting to keep it though. I love it!
