Barn quilt

If you were to drive past my house at the posted speed limit this is what you'd see.  I doubt at 35mph you would notice the willow tree, pear trees, greenhouses or grapevines.  What about the barn quilt?

I've blogged about our barn quilt before.  It was made by myself and students from the school where my daughters attend back in 2010.  I love it so.  And over the years I've noticed that sometimes as cars speed down the street in front of my house they will slow down.  I've even seen a few cars pass, brake, and reverse deliberately back in front of my barn.

This past weekend I was mowing the grass and a car did just that.  But they also rolled down the window and stuck a camera out and started taking pictures.  That gave me a moment of pause and I hopped off the lawn mower and hollered, "May I help you?"

They replied, "We love your barn quilt!"  And they proceeded to tell me that they drive all over the region looking for barn quilts and were surprised to see mine since it's not on any official tour map.  "Nope,"  I said.  "Just here for the sake of being here."

Just here for the sake of being here.

Loving these pictures. On a Friday morning it's fun to close my eyes and daydream. Some day I'd love to have a little barn, cute white house and fruit trees in the yard!

I love it. Do you think I could get away with starting garage door quilts?

Oh my goodness. Now all I need is a barn. I have never heard of a Barn Quilt. Next time I am in Maine I will surely keep my eyes peeled for one.

What a beautiful barn quilt.

Glad people slow down to admire it.

If only I had a barn and not a coop hidden by 6 foot fencing. ;) Tiny coop. Oh honey, need a bigger coop so I can paint a coop quilt. :D

You might get me into a bit of trouble. Yay. :D

somebody did that at my house the other day too but it wasn't friendly barn quilt hunters, it was annoying hoa enforcers taking pictures of my camp trailer parked in front of my house! jerks! ;) love your barn quilt! i would have stopped and taken pictures too but then i would have asked you about your handmade soap and chatted for about three hours! xo

I can so imagine you hopping off of the mower and chatting with someone. You just seem that darn nice. I love how the barn quilt is there, just because. :)
