Good old fashion fun

It's a fast paced life that we all lead these days.  Meetings and practices.  Homework and events.  Go here.  Go there.

But as I hurried down the hallway, doing some frenzied task, I heard splashing and giggling.  And what I spied slowed me to a snail's pace.  No kindles or cell phones.  No televisions or computer screens.  Just homemade rafts and the idea to see who's boat could carry the most weight before sinking.

Thanks for slowing me down girls.

Don't you just love it when they find a way to play that doesn't involve electronics? It's like when we were kids! Awesome-

Omg, what fun was had.

Why didn't I think of doing that? Sigh. ;)

I love it when kids find something to do that is human powered.

Miss having my kids that age, doing things, oh wait, they were too busy antagonizing each other. :D Guess that was human powered. :D

Glad you got to slow down and watch. What a way to recharge and make a memory.

How wonderful to discover them having some good old fashioned fun! We should all do that, even adults. I still love to go outside and play. Now I feel the need to do that more!

Thanks for sharing! I so fight every day to try to keep it "slow" in life so we don't run all the time!!!

This is the activity that lead to my 4 year old swallowing a penny, and the resulting call to the pediatrician. We did not have a penny vigil. I trust that nature took its course.

My girls are grown now, but I remember they had the most fun when they did an activity they made up.

I read this quote on my friends wall the other day, "Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood."
-Fred Rogers
It has sat with me all week. Our little ones grow so quickly. How wonderful that the girls still find time to play :)
