The passenger door closed with a shove and she walked toward the administrator with the clip board. Shoulders ever so slightly hunched. Picking at her cuticles. An ongoing running stitch, her and I. And today as I dropped her off at high school orientation it felt like a seam ripper cut that stitch right in two.
That is today. But somewhere between now and 2:25pm, I will re thread my needle, put this broken cloth back together again and continue our never ending running stitch.
My girl. I love you so.

Beautiful girl and a whole new beginning to go through together. Such fun ahead of you both! Don't blink .... it's over that fast.
Well now begins the dance of her struggle to want your love but find out how to be her own person. Of course this is done by verbal sparing, eye rolls, and all the other teenage angst she can use to "grow" Don't take it personally Mom she is escaping her cocoon to become her own butterfly!
Hold onto your hat the next fours years are gonna whirl by so fast you are going to be shocked! I know you'll find the best way to guide her on her journey.
Isn't she awesome? Mom's are so blessed to be such a part of it all!!

Beautiful, beautiful girl. Your thread will never be broken. True it will stretch, sometimes to its limit, and twist, but it is so strong, like you. Believe me when I say that one day you will hear from your girls how blessed they've been to have you for a mom. It's something I never tire of hearing from my grown kids. They hear us (yes, they do!), they love us, and we are bound together by so much more than genetics. Yay for love and kids!
Starting grade 9...? Julianna is too, but in a way she's there already. She's one of those "straight A's forever, English Honors, Science Honors, advanced Math (grade 10 math next year), Business Ed, volleyball, basketball, and 'why can'y I get a real job THIS summer, who cares if I'm only 14?'..." type of girls. I'm excited to have them both in high school, but I hear ya... it's hard :o)

Never thought of it as a running stitch, torn fabric, etc. My, how you make me think of things in a different way.
My little has 6 days left until she graduates. Too soon. I just put her into kindergarten. ;)
Those 4 year in HS pass fast, at least it did for us.

Exciting times! Congrats to you both! My oldest will be heading into third grade and I can't believe that so high school seems all the more "grown up"!

She is absolutely beautiful! Congrats to her. Best wishes to you. The high school years are a bit like a roller coaster. You may need to rethread that needle a lot. But you will.
