Patience and timing

I ran outside and snapped this photo of the daffodils reaching for the sun. In January.  Like they do every year. We've lived in this house 11 years and for many of those years I've stared at those January peeking daffodils and fretted. Worried they were too soon.  That they would freeze and the beauty would be wasted that year. But they are never wrong.  They burst from the frozen earth in the coldest month on the calender. All to bloom for a fraction of time in early spring.

Every January they remind me of patience and timing.

Nature is cool.

You are so fortunate to have this sign in January! My bulbs do not pop through until March but I am still so excited to see them!

I've been looking for my crocus to peek out.

Such brave flowers :-)
I found some daffodils in flower in a park the other day! I was amazed. Mine are still only an inch or so out of the ground but the crocuses are coming up well and the more established patches around the neighbourhood are starting to flower.
It's only January!

Here in western NY it is closer to April before we see these bits of green. They always remind me of my mom - who always said "spring can't come until it snows on the daffodils". She was usually right. We have 12 inches predicted between now and tomorrow night- I think I will just stare at your photo for a while.

I always worry when I see them so early. I guess timing is everything. :)
