Recent portrait sessions

Autumn is my favorite time of year to photograph people. The scenery and the light.  Oh the magical light!  I always feel lucky to spend a sliver of time with families in a golden hour of light.  I always hop into my car at the end of the session mystified at where the time went and caught up in the world I saw through my lens.

Seven years ago I took a similar photo of these sisters which their parents wanted recreated.  What beautiful young women they've become.

A quilt for a new one year old

 

This little neighbor guy turned one a few weeks ago so of course I made him a new quilt.  Cause the baby sized one I made isn't right.  He's a bigger boy and needs a bigger quilt.  Right?

On this day each year images flash through my mind.  Like a nosy filmstrip that I watched in school when I was 14 that always included shaky images with a firm voice over narration.  But when my mind is watching your filmstrip, Morgan Freeman narrates and your 14 years speed by before I can even settle in to watch.

Compassionate.  Tender.  Kind.  Strong.  Smart.  So very smart. 

Happy birthday sweet girl.

Portrait Session Sneak Peak For the Families

Just a very small sampling of the portraits taken the night before Halloween.  So the mamas and the papas can get a sneak peak.  I'll have your CD's burned with the images from the entire session in a few weeks.

This family rocks!!!!

She called me Saturday to see if there was any chance I could come take photos the next day because all her boys were in town.  And that hardly ever happens.

We took our chances with the rain.  I think the hazy, filtered light worked to our advantage.

Well that and the easy going nature of the family.  Being near them I could tell they actually enjoyed being together.

 

It was easy and natural and never forced.

I think that's why I love these photos like I do.
