This week

A blur.  An absolute blur I tell you.  These September weeks.

It was a thrill to see my little ole barn quilt on the Craftsy blog.  I've talked before about my love for barn quilts and it's like a jolt of adrenaline each time I think of it being shared on Craftsy.

My current quilt project in the photo above has been pinned to my wall for a few weeks.  The blocks are all made.  I just need to find the time to sew more of them together.  I'm hoping for sooner rather than later.

Each Friday I post things here that remind me who I am at this moment.  A snapshot of what this week was and maybe what it was not.  A date stamp of my life . . . this week.  I hope that you leave a link to your week in the comments for all to find.  Life, after all, is a series of events and I'd love to be witness to yours.

Each Friday I post things here that remind me who I am at this moment.  A snapshot of what this week was and maybe what it was not.  Usually a bullet point list of stuff that made it what it was.  A date stamp of my life . . . this week.  I hope that you leave a link to your week in the comments for all to find.  Life, after all, is a series of events and I'd love to be witness to yours.

  • Had a flat tire.
  • One of our dogs, Harpo, got really sick.  She is fine now.
  • Really sick dog = big fat vet bill
  • Our desktop computer got zapped.  The hard drive is fried.
  • I'm glad it's Friday.
  • Looking forward to a weekend.
  • It's got to be better than this week.

Link up this week

Each Friday I post things here that remind me who I am at this moment.  A snapshot of what this week was and maybe what it was not.  Usually a bullet point list of stuff that made it what it was.  A date stamp of my life . . . this week.

I have been offering up a linkup option so that you can link to a post of what made your week.  This time, however, I'm not going to provide the linkup option but instead hope that you leave a link to your week in the comments for all to find.  Life, after all, is a series of events and I'd love to be witness to yours.

This week we've spent some time watching the events at the ICF Canoe Freestyle World Championships taking place in our neck of the woods.  The day these photos were taken was just a practice day.  Tonight we are going to watch some finals.

Also this week I got a glimpse of my Circle 7 quilt that has been traveling around to talented friends who each have added their part.  I started it all with the tent and so far Susannah Kate (the feather and the fox), Amy (the campfire and lantern) and Courtney (the arrows and bear) have added to it.  Each time I see a photo of it my heart does a little dance.  I seriously cannot believe that this piece of awesomeness is going to be mine.

Finally this week, I contemplated making a new blog banner as this current one is seriously oeverdue for an update.  Maybe I'll get to it.  Maybe not.  Priorities and all that.

P.S.  As I said, please do leave a link in the comments sharing about your week.  And give me some feedback if you prefer it this way or would rather the linkup option.  Thanks.

Link up this week

--  I saw the first red and orange leaves of fall.

--  Not many but they are there.  It's happening.

--  I made an apple pie with apples from our tree.  That is pretty awesome in itself but what's probably even more amazing is that I didn't Instagram it.

--  If a pie is made and not Instagrammed, did the pie even exist?

--  I've resisted the urge to buy new fabric from my favorite online shops.  I'm saving my pennies for Sew South.  Tickets go on sale October 1st.  I hope I'm lucky enough to snag one.

Ok.  Your turn.  Link up and share about your week.

Link up this week

Last week I started a weekly feature called This Week.  Link up at the bottom and share what funny, memorable, noteworthy things happened in your week.

  1. Both girls are now back in school during the days.  I talked a bit more about that on Monday.
     2.  My oldest turned 14 and I talked a bit more about that on Wednesday.

     3.  The latest edition of my university alumni magazine arrived and the cover story is about a family of quilters.  So refreshingly validating in a way.

     4.  I'm working on a tutorial and giveaway for after Labor Day.

     5.  This lyric from the Avett Brothers keeps running through my head this week:

Always remember there was nothing worth sharing, like the love that let us share our name.

New feature - This Week

Sometimes I don't have time to sit down and write.  Instead I want to just give snippets. Or bullet points just share little bits here that I don't want to forget.  So, I'm going to do just that and call it, "This Week"  and I hope you join me.  Link up and let me know about your week.

  • Razor came home one day from work and had funny stories to tell about his day.  A new employee had started and was doing some wacky things.  Razor was so astonished at some of his behavior.  He said the guy was, "off the blue and out of the wall."

  • We like to call these things Razor-isms in our house.

  • We've lived in our house for nine years and for the entirety of that time one bathroom toilet only ever fully flushes every other time.  Too much information?  Just this week my 11 year old daughter discovered that if she holds the handle down until the flush is a full on flush, it will completely flush.  Every! Single! Time!

  • The above bullet point gives me such complete joy.

  • And I consider the same bullet point the greatest discovery of the 21st century.  No exaggeration.

  • Cause I'm not an over reactor.

  • Just ask my kids.

  • My oldest started high school yesterday.

  • Deep, deep breath.

  • More on that subject soon I'm sure.

So, won't you join me and tell me about your week?
