Two More Quilts for Sale

Whew! Since my last post I've sold quite a few quilts and, I've gotta say, it feels much less scary now to let them go out into the world. Thank you for your purchases and indulging me. Many sold here and several more sold via my Old Red Barn Co. Facebook page. I know that this space hasn't been visited by you looking for something for sale and yet, that's what I've had here for awhile. I appreciate your tolerance for such diversions and hope that you know how much I appreciate whatever your reasons are for being here today... and for all the years before now.

In my last post update, I said that I had two more quilts for sale. The first is this traditional log cabin quilt that measures 66"x78". The center square of each block is the cutest little woodland deer measuring 1" square. The blocks are arranged in a way that makes bold strips diagonally across the quilt.  It's backed in a light blue fabric with scattered daisy bouquets. Machine wash and dry.  For sale for $300 plus shipping to you.

The second quilt is a traditional postage stamp quilt with a modern twist. The tiny squares are set among rainbow hued solid colors that cascade across the quilt. It measures 60"x73" and is backed with a mix of some of my favorite fabric prints of all times. This quilt has hundreds of fabrics in it from little bits and pieces of quilts that I've made over the years. Machine wash and dry. For sale for $300 plus shipping to you.

Ok. These (plus the few remaining in my last post) are all that I plan to sell for now. If you see something you'd like, shoot me an email by hitting that envelope icon over on the top on the right hand side.  Once you claim one, I'll work with you to calculate shipping, send you a PayPal money request and get it in the mail to you.

Selling these quilts that I've poured my heart and soul into feels like such a vulnerable act. I bet you can relate to that. Right? I mean, when I make something for someone I really, really hope that they like it. Do you too? It doesn't have to be a quilt. It can be a birthday card and a pan of lasagna. You make something for someone and you really hope they like it.  These quilts were not made for someone specifically but they are creations from my inner most self. I spent hours choosing fabrics, block designs, sewing, placing and rearranging, basting, quilting, and binding and they feel like bits of me. Putting "bits of me" up for sale makes me feel, like I said, vulnerable. But it feels much less scary now.  Thanks for allowing me to share them.

Quilt Sale

I mentioned earlier this summer that I had a large stack of quilts to sell. I'm starting with these five quilts and hope to photograph and get the details written down of the other quilts in the next week or so. All of the quilts are handmade by me. Most were sample quilts I made for magazine, book or other publication of some sort. In the past I've opened up special online shops to sell quilts but am just going to list them here. Please feel free to email me with questions by clicking the red "email" button over on the right sidebar.

The above quilt I've called "Charmed I'm Sure." It measures 72" x 103" and is 100% cotton. Machine wash and tumble dry. Though the corners look square in these photos, they are actually angled corners... you just can't tell because my husband is holding it while standing on a bale of hay and doing his best not to fall off. $300 plus shipping and insurance.

The above 100% cotton quilt measures 55" x 55" and is named "Filigree." Machine wash and tumble dry. The soft colors and bold x's remind of of fine filigree work. $200 plus shipping and insurance. Unless your local of course. In which case, I'll bring it to ya!

"Bento Box" is the name of the above 100% cotton quilt that measures 56" x 84" (perfect on a twin bed!) Machine wash and tumble dry. $200 plus shipping and insurance.

SOLD -- This giant rainbow gradient quilt measures 86" x 103". It is, of course, 100% cotton. Machine wash and tumble dry. $300 plus shipping and insurance.

SOLD -- Finally, this strawberry quilt measures 51" x 64" and is such a happy, summery quilt. It's 100% cotton. Machine wash and tumble dry. $200 plus shipping and insurance.

You guys! Thank you for taking a look. I'm constantly making quilts. It's what I love to do. I've never made a quilt I didn't love and it will pain me just a little to send these off to new owners. However, these (plus the others I will post in the coming week) have been stacked up in the I'm-going-to-sell-some-quilts-so-momma-can-keep-making-more pile for several months and my family hasn't missed them. Fingers crossed you find something you like.

All sorts of sales at Old Red Barn Co!

Several things to tell you about today. First off, I've hinted over the past several months that at the end of 2015 I will be closing the Old Red Barn Co. shop.

Since I started making and selling soap under the Old Red Barn Co. name, so many things have changed. Old Red Barn Co. began in my kitchen and became a way for our family to have a little extra income. It grew steadily and helped us during some very lean years. Alone and as a family, I've traveled and participated in countless craft shows. My customers are loyal and have kept our internet business brisk. It's hard because in many ways I feel like I'm letting those amazing customers down. But over the years, Old Red Barn Co. has morphed and changed and stretched and grown. What started as me selling my handmade goat milk soap at my local farmer's market one Saturday, has changed into a quilt related business that occupies more and more of my time. Add two busy teenage daughters to the mix and something just has to give.

As a thank you to you, whether you've been a customer from the beginning or have never tried our products before, we are having a blow out sale that will last until the end of the year or when we are sold out. Soaps are normally $4 each or three bars for $10 but the sale price is now $4 each or nine bars for $25. Scrubs are normally $10 each but are now three for $20.  The website does NOT reflect these sale prices as I'm having a booger of a time getting the drop down menus to do what I want them to do and reflect the correct sale price. This means that for every order that comes through from now until closing, I will adjust and refund the overages.  Sorry for the hassle of the whole buy-at-regular-price-and-then-have-the-overages-refunded-to-you thing.  It saves me from hiring someone to fix the website and I promise you'll get the sale prices!

Also, you might have noticed a slight change to the Imagine Quilts graphic up in top of the right side bar here on the blog.

I have a final shipment of books now in stock and I have signed copies on sale for $15 + $2.50 media mail shipping. I won't be ordering any more so if you've ever considered buying one (thank you!! ::blushing::) now's the time.  Just click on that icon in the upper right hand sidebar of my blog. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

'Kay. I think that's all for now.

Today I'm...

-- Surging ahead this busy month.  The end offers a sweet reward.

-- Wondering why my feet don't seem to love Chaco brand shoes like everyone else on the planet, apparently.  The straps don't stay where I adjust them.  And I don't find them terribly comfortable.  I've tried different styles over the years and was hoping my latest ones were the ticket.  I'm not so sure.

-- Closing my online quilt shop after May 16, 2013.  I just have too many irons in the fire and some things have to give.  This is one of them.  Use code CLOSE35 to save 35% off any purchase.  I have so many quilts that there are probably a half a dozen more that I could/should/would sell but, like I said, something's gotta give.

Vintage quilts now for sale too!

Vintage beauties like these are now for sale in my quilt shop along with quilts that I make.  You see, I have a obsession that forces me to rescue any and all quilts (and fabric... ahem) that I find in the wild.  And since many of you email asking where to find vintage quilts, I figured it was time to sell a few from my collection.

Also, my entire quilt shop is on sale for 20% off with coupon code QUILTSALE12.  This code will be valid through July.

Follow Through

It was all about the follow through this past weekend.  We had told the girls that come spring we would get some new kittens.

Check.

Inky and Shiloh joined us Friday and have spent the weekend getting familiar with the barn.  And two barking dogs that love to chase them and can manage to whine for hours inside the house just itching to get outside and bark some more are so glad they're here.  Just like the rest of us.

I also followed through on the opening of an Old Red Barn Co. Quilt Shop.  Only four quilts are listed because one has already sold.  Yippee!  You'll always be able to find the clickable button that takes you directly to the Quilt Shop over on the sidebar.  See it?  Just click it and Bingo! Your there. I'm always making new quilts so my plan is to always be adding to the shop.

Three cheers for good old fashioned follow through.

All Quilts All the Time

I've been saying for awhile that I have five quilts ready to sell.  And I've been saying that I was going to load them onto my website at www.oldredbarnco.com.  And I've spent a better part of today photographing, measuring and fooling around with html code in a feeble attempt to load them onto my website.  However, short of going back to school and getting a degree in h-t-m-freakin'-l, I don't think they will be on my website anytime soon.

So, I thought I would first put them here with the plan to open an etsy shop by the end of the weekend.  And now that I've said so I will have to follow through.

Accountability!  I like it!

Arabian Nights.  100% cotton.  This quilt features the fabric 1001 Peeps from Lizzy House for Andover Fabrics.  55.5"x75".  Machine wash and dry.  $310 + $15.45 shipping.

Polka Dot Chain.  100% cotton.  This scrappy patchwork quilt features a variety of Henna Garden by Sandi Henderson for Michael Miller Fabrics and Ta Dots by Michael Miller Fabrics as well as other designer fabrics.  Measures 58"x58".  Machine wash and dry.  $285.00 + $15.45 shipping.

Sweetie Pie.  100% cotton.  This quilt features the fabric Swell by Urban Chicks for Moda.  Measures 61"x70".  100% cotton.  $320.00 + $15.45 shipping

You guessed it . . . the back of Sweetie Pie.

Okay!  So, I've got to open an etsy shop.

But if you want to purchase one before I get off my lazy butt and I had better because Mama's got plans! I do, please shoot me an email at dana at oldredbarnco dot com and we can arrange the sale.  And I will even promise to love you forever!
