I've said before that I often consider the impact that I make on the planet. Oh, I aspire to do great things personally and professionally and all that but what I'm talking about is how my way of living affects the environment. So, in addition to
hanging laundry on a clothesline, I also clean green.

Making my own cleaners was spurred not only by my desire to treat the earth right but also to treat my family right. We take great care to eat well and take care of our bodies. It only makes sense that I clean our home well too. The chemicals that are used in commercial cleaners are often toxic and nearly always detrimental to our bodies natural workings. Ever heard the term
hormone interrupter? Um . . . ya, we try to avoid those. Why do you think I started
making soap after all?

Here are my favorite basic recipes.
Glass Cleaner2 parts vinegar to 1 part distilled water. Sometimes I add some antiseptic essential oil such as lemon, lavender or tea tree. Oh, three or four drops.
All Purpose Cleaner2 teaspoons Borax
20 oz of distilled water
10 oz vinegar
2 drops of your favorite dish soap
A few drops of essential oils if you wish
Scrubby stuffA box of Borax
A box of baking soda
A few drops of essential oil -- here my favorite is lemon and rosemary
Let me know if you try any of these.
