Seasons

Fall is my most favoriest season of all. I like the feeling of needing a sweater in the mornings and warm sunshine on my face in the afternoons. I like apple pies. Bales of hay. Pumpkins and died corn stalks.

Fall really can't come soon enough. I dare say Mother Nature agrees.

I know because the lawn underneath the majestic sugar maple in my front yard is littered with reddish leaves.

And the days are getting shorter . . . inch by inch.

So I thought it high time to photograph some of the flowers around my yard before a freeze comes and snatches them away.

Or a puppy decides to dig them out.

I guess the hummingbirds aren't ready to head south just yet.

Lucky for me.

And my camera.

Don't these things head south for winter too?

Get along little Monarch. Get along.

Oh great hummer pictures.......they haven't left NY yet either :0)
I do love them and miss when they go....keep your feeder out though because the traveling birds stop by for some food too.

Happy sewing.....love those scrappy squares

Wow Dana, those are some awesome pictures!! Do you mind if I ask what kind of camera do you have? I try to capture the hummingbirds up here, but my pics don't turn out as nice as yours do:( I totally agree about fall too, it is my favorite time of the year!

Great pictures. I like fall but not what it brings after...WINTER!
We are in a heat wave in Calgary so i haven't been able to do much baking for when our life gets really hectic! maybe next week.

Oh this is my favorite time of year too! I can just smell the autumnness in the air. I am enjoying everything so much more lately . . . .

Did we actually have summer? We only had a handful of 90 degree days and never put our ACs in the windows!:) Makes me happy, between that and using the clothesline all summer we had really small electric bills! I'm with you though, Fall is the best...it's just not long enough!

Great photos....yep, I would love to know what camera you use too...sounds to me a blog about your camera is in order!:)

Beautiful pix, Dana! Though I'm not sure what you mean with that "Unless a puppy digs them up" accusation. Woo!

Bootiful flowers! You inspired me to take pictures of the flowers we have left in our gardens too. With Fall approaching, I too have been longing to put on a sweater or my favorite thermal tee.

I couldn't agree with you more! I can't wait for Fall to arrive, but I am kind of sad that I'll have to say goodbye to my flowers and tomato plants though.

Gorgeous photos. Getting such amazing photos of a hummingbird are like catching magic with your lens. I've yet to have that opportunity, but it makes my heart dance when I see someone capture that magic. Your flowers look beautiful. I bet you could have conversations with them like Alice did in Wonderland. :)

The past couple of days have been heavenly with the tease of fall in the air. I can barely contain myself. Fall is my favorite too.

But Dana...those photos of the hummingbirds...be still my heart.

Wonderful photos, I have never seen a hummingbird, thank you for taking those! They are smaller than I thought they would be! (the birds, not the photos :-), but lovely to see, just as if I were to stand in your garden.

Thank you so much for sharing all of your pictures and thoughts. I love living vicariously through a friend. It is like walking through your garden as you speak your thoughts. I adore fall, too! Of course, every season in Western North Carolina is unbelievable, isn't it? Happy weekend to you!

Look at that Basil! I planted two basil plants this year, and I've been drying it all along in the oven. Now I have enough to last me for a good loooong while. =-) What are you doing with yours?

Beautiful pictures. So cool that you caught a hummingbird with your camera. I love fall too! I think it's my favorite, although the winter wonderland here in Utah has really grown on my heart too.

I am sooo looking forward to Fall, too! And it seems by Saturday Texas is going to get a touch of cooler weather, thanks to a front that's heading our way. Thanks for sharing the beautiful pictures! I can't wait to see pumpkins and bales of hay, too! Matter of fact, Hubby and I were just talking about that earlier this week.

I'll add my voice to the chorus and say "me too"--love the season, love your photos.
I do hope to see you up my way in a couple of weeks. I need some sugar scrub for Christmas gifts!

Our summer has been so kool (coldest July in 100 years?!!)I can wait for fall. I am hoping our veggies get ripe. Everyone up here is a bit crabby about the lack of growth in the garden. Before I know it there will be 2-3 feet of snow covering my garden. I can definately wait! :-) But I do love fall also.
