My husband. He's special.

And I really mean that. He is special.

But, he is also special . . . if you know what I'm sayin'. Like special in the way that means he is a little off his rocker. You see, a few weeks ago he and some buddies decided to go for a bike ride.

And not just a few miles. Oh no siree!

One hundred miles.

Cause it seemed like fun.

Fun I say? ::blink:: ::blink::

I hate going for a hundred mile ride in MY CAR!

He's special all right. And I love him much.

My boyfriend did the Civil War Century bike ride a few weeks ago. It's considered the hardest one on the east coast. And he loved it and can't wait to do it again. He runs a marathon on Sat, and is training for a triathlon.

Me? I'm training to be an awesome spectator! Hey, someones got to do it! :D

I'm with you, Dana. Not for me! My DH, Garry, thinks going out in the woods on a dirtbike in 100 degree weather, covered in protective gear is a good time. Go figure! Garry is very special, too!

At least they are all wearing helmets, hahhahaha

Funny thing is my husband decided to go on a bike ride the other day too. In the whole time I've known him, he's never done that. Although mine did about 7 miles, then came home and whinged about having done 7 miles and how everything was sore. Yeesh.

Your husband and mine ought to get together! Thankfully, here in IN the cycling season is coming to an end (competetively) but he still ride all year long!

bwa-ha-ha! I too have a special husband - in both senses of the word. Mine restores ancient rusty cars. For fun. In his spare time. And then sells them for less than he spent on them. *rollseyes* Men! Makes cutting up expensive fabric so sew it all back together again look infinitely sensible.......or maybe not.

yeah. that DOES make for some kind of special. my bum hurts just thinking about it.

It is so great to hear a woman who loves her man........and he IS really something special! ( love that smile of his )
My Honey use to ride 50 miles 3 days a week before work!
And honestly I LOVE my man more than life itself!

Aren't we Blessed!

Happy Sewing

I'm with you - I'll stay inside away from the cars that might want to run me off the road and cut up some fabric to sew back together.

back in the day, i used to be a competitive cyclist. 10 miles was a warmup and 60-100 on a saturday morning was the norm for me. granted...it's been 13 years since i did that type of riding and i think a 20 mile ride might be a good accomplishment for me now.

i need back on my bike. kudos to your very special husband. i'd like to join him and his friends.

Ah hubbies...they are "special". My "special" man loves to ride with our daughter (22), they get on the C&O trail and ride 6-7 miles to Harper's Ferry where they then get their reward of FOOD and then ride home!:) This week it was "The Sloppy Taco" place. I think it is their goal to try every food joint in HF and there are quite a few! They don't wear the cute little shorts but she did get her dad a proper helmet!;)

Me and bike seats just don't get along.....more power to them!:)

Good for him! That's quite an accomplishment. And I bet he didn't stop at a single fabric store.

Special...whew! I'm with you...I don't like riding 100 miles in the car much less on that little bike seat.

hey dana, be glad you were in the car and not on one of those bikes. I used to love to ride me bike when i lived in california. i would ride maybe 40 -60 miles rt just for the sheer pleasure of it. now i am so scarred...so scarred i might fall. i am going to have that bypass surgery in the near future and hope to be riding a bike in a year or two. that would be grand! yeah...your man is special in so many ways or so you have told us...have you ever heard that song "women be wise" by bonnie riatt..........

That's what makes him just right for you! Glad he got out - sometimes they just need that :)

I enjoy how much my hubby spent on his two bikes(one road, one mountain). Makes fabric sound really really cheap!!!
He actually got one out yesterday for the first time in months--must be something in the air!!! Hee hee!!!

Mine's speshul like that, too, Dana. He'll spend a thousand bucks on hunting equipment to bag "us" 100 pounds of meat. Uh. I'm not a rocket scientist (HE IS!) but that's like $10 a pound, for a lot of chewy meat. Personally, I'd rather go to the store and get a nice sirloin for half that! But, and that's a big but- when he spends hunting money, I can spend fabric money with no guilt! So, go hunting, my man, go! I insist!

I'm glad yours had fun, Dana. He sure looks cute in his biking "outfit"!

I have never commented but have been lurking around here and enjoying your various creations for a while now. I know this is a forward thing to do but I had to ask. Can you and your quilting friends help? I just came across this article http://blog.mlive.com/headoftheclass/2009/10/women_request_quilts_for_homel.html and as I processed this need, i couldn't get you and your internet quilting friends out of my head. If you would be willing to make scrap quilts and send them, or even send scraps of fabric that are cut to use in quilt tops that would help too. It is already unusually cold here and I cannot imagine my babies living in a shelter in need of these basic things. I am going to organize my local sewing friends, will you help by organizing some of your friends as well? You can reach me at priceclan4@yahoo.com if you want.

You crack me up!

I wouldn't want to go for 100 miles either. The 5 I did around the lake last month was enough. :)
