Silly things
For the past several weeks, as I'm laying in bed falling asleep, I've been thinking.
Scary. I know.
For some reason I begin rubbing my feet on the flannel sheets. And I think, "How soft." And I think, "That feels good." And, "My feet aren't catching/snagging on the fabric." And I think, "Cool! Nice smooth feet on soft, soft flannel."
Scary. I know.
But this same conversation happens in my head every night. And this conversation continues and expands. And goes off in many different directions. Like . . .
"I dig the warmness on my hands as I hold a cup of hot apple cider." Or,
"Even though I abhor taking the dogs out after dark in freezing temperatures, I fancy looking skyward and seeing the stars like diamonds on black velvet."
Silly little conversations with myself that aren't so silly after all. . .

LOVE those kinds of conversations. I plan on having a few of my own this year. ooxx Thanks for sharing...
Just enjoying life's simple pleasures. That's awesome.
You are so tuned in...that is very cool =-) I am loving the clear, crisp night sky, too. Are the stars brighter this year? Or am I just looking with more widely open eyes...
It's good to know others have those internal dialogues going on with themselves, and not just me. I guess that means we like ourselves and enjoy conversing with ourselves, albeit silent conversations. ;-)
Oh, and I've had those exact thoughts about taking the dogs for their nightly walk when it's cold outside. However, once I'm out there, I practically get whiplash while trying to walk and hold the leash, all while my head is facing upward. I keep saying to my husband every night (we each walk a dog), "can you believe how brilliant those stars are tonight?". Though he appreciates their beauty, and attributes it to God's great handiwork, I can tell the sight doesn't thrill him to the degree it does me. ;-Þ
Thanks for the laugh Dana.
I have the same sort of conversations with myself all the time :)
All sounds perfectly reasonable to me! Personally I love the warmness of the bed first thing in the morning and knowing it's not my turn for the tea! And then, just sitting up and reading till the book is done and the teapot is empty! Happy New Year!
It's the flannel sheets!!! And people wonder why I use them all year round!
One of life's simple pleasures.
L,A-
actually, your conversations sound to me like unwritten poetry ...
and the feet part ~ about not scratching on the sheets ~ ditto ... every night!
:)
I'm off to change my sheets - those darn 800 thread count Egyptian cotton ones feel chilly when I get in bed! Mike thought they would be a good idea, but he doesn't understand that I never wanted 'satin-like' sheets!
I have conservations with myself like that all the time. They are some of the best I have all day!
These silly conversations are usually the ones that turn into great ideas or the happiest of memories. I say carry on :)
If only we could do chores and run errands too!
Cool Huh?

I have those conversations every day! And the flannel sheets? That's why I back all my quilts with flannel...love that feel!
not silly.
more like little poems of earthly comforts and real dreams.
i shall try to remember your bit about the dogs, although it's usually so overcast here that i don't get to appreciate the night in that way. still, i have decided this year that joy is a choice, whether joy in little things or big. i think i just found my next blog post ;-)
I love having the silly conversations with myself and I'm glad you shared yours, I have the same thoughts about the dark o'clock morning sky. It all seems worth it when I can see those heavenly lights.
I need to have more conversations like that, appreciate the little things that make our lives wonderful.
simple pleasures that your brain just wants to remind you are all around you....
God puts that light show on every night....we just have to step out and look :0)
Happy sewing
Big Hugs
Isn't it great how the silly simple things really are what make us happy. Love your silly converstaions.
I love these little thoughts/conversations! Maybe you should write each one down in a journal and refer to them when/if you're feeling down.

I love flannelette (as we call it) sheets. Love them. Even in summer you'll find them on the bed. Soft, soft soft! Mmmm....
Living in the moment is challenging but worth it 8-)
Silly and lovely.
You know I have heard it said before that sometimes the only intelligent conversation you can have is with yourself, so go ahead and talk to yourself all you want... :) I have the same thoughts racing through my head at bedtime. Maybe that's why I don't seem to sleep anymore; that or a 8 mo old...hmmm.
