Mountain Folk Festival

For the second year in a row the girls and I took a long road trip to Berea, Kentucky for the 76th Annual Mountain Folk Festival.  It's a gymnasium full of of middle and high school aged kids learning and dancing traditional folk dances.

My kids, and the group we traveled with, danced from 8:00am until 9:30pm for two days straight.

And they had an absolute blast!

Makes me want to get up and move!
How can you watch it without dancing?
Wonderful thing to see kids dancing together.....I was watching for your girls like they were my own :0).

Happy sewing

So fun! I love Berea and it's gorgeous foothills. I bet you all were tired from all the dancing, but what a great tradition to learn all those folk dances!

Sounds like a totally satisfying trip! When I was a kid we learned some folk dances in elementary school, but not clogging. Then in high school, folk dance was an option for P.E. We learned a lot of European/UK dances. It was loads of fun although today I could not demonstrate a single one of them!

This was very educational for my son! We live in Miami...no folk dancing down here, except for maybe from Panama!
