Camping

Foggy morning air.  Turned hot muggy afternoon.  Eleven mile bike rides in the rain.  Moving my loungy camp chair to a cool shady spot.  Crickets singing me to sleep.

Building a rock damn to make a swimming hole.  Sliding down the slippery rock.  The squeaky sound of the cooler opening and closing in search of a snack.  Starting fires with wet, foraged wood.  Driving the loop in search of wildlife.  Seeing a black bear cross right in front and along side of the car.

The last hurrah of summer.

Your words feel like my second home...college in the mountains. I'm thinking I need to get back to the mountains for a visit, it's been a while.

Those sounds totally capture camping. I love that first foggy shot - the layer get me. And a bear?! Yikes {but also very cool}! :)

What an awesome way to end the summer. Minus the hot muggy afternoons. :)

Few words...big impact! Love the photos, too! (I see no elk, though????)

Well, I can't find any info about your locale, but I have to assume that you're in Cade's Cove, by your reference to the loop and what looks like the smokies? That's my home, I'm from Alcoa. <3 So nice to see my home. And if it's not the smokies then it's nice to see what I THINK is home. :)

I wish I could smell those photos... When will they come up with a camera that can capture that? lol.

Beautifully written and those pictures make the words better.

So glad you had fun, enjoyed it, built memories, and saw a bear.

Can I send you the moose cow and her twins? Maybe the owl that sits outside late at night and sings to my rooster?

What a glorious way to send summer off. A great way to recharge the creative batteries, too.

Looks like fun, well that is until the bear appeared.

Guess you all will get at least one snow due to the fact you had fog! (Tipper told me that fact)

I remember sliding down slipper rocks one summer until I wore holes in my bathing suit. Such a fun memory. You have captured your last days of summer in beautiful words and photos.
