Virtual quilting bee progress

Earlier this Fall I began a year long virtual quilting bee. Say what? Well, 17 women from across the country are participating and we each have an assigned month where we send out fabric to the other 16 ladies for them to make a quilt block and send back to us. At the end of your assigned month you will then receive 16 finished quilt blocks to assemble into a quilt. I had the month of September and have received almost all of my blocks back. This is one.

You can follow our progress at the Busy Little Quilting Bee Flickr group.

These two blocks are the ones I've made for the October and November ladies. They sent the fabric and some general requests as to what they had in mind for the blocks. The first one is being made for a boy who loves all things Army so it will be all green and red.

The second was a great blend of orange and brown fabrics.

Finally, just want to share a recent fabric find from the local thrift shop.

Can you feel the love? I hope so because I'll be starting a book bundle giveaway tomorrow. Ever heard of Barefoot Books? I love these books because they combine art and story seamlessly. And, the pack I'm giving away is especially appropriate this time of year . . . One World, One Planet. 'Cause I'm all crunchy, granola-y, earth loverly like that.

How fun! Your blocks look great. It's so fun making just one, and then watching it come together. . . exciting times! I was wondering if you'd a chance to do any quilting for yourself lately too :) Books - haven't heard of barefoot - I'll go check them out - and be back tomorrow :)

I had a neighbor who spoke of those granola hippies and I would giggle inside because even though I dont look it I may be granola. Poor guy.
Cute fabric.
And I like the idea of the virtual quilting bee. I have done several for my guild but never had a turn for myself. But I like making the other's blocks.

I love that first block with the orange Amy Butler, and the other orange one. The idea of a virtual quilting bee is so cool! I tend to stay in my box when it comes to ideas, so to send out fabric and get 16 OTHER ideas of what can be done with it - WOW! I think it would be really cool and eclectic. Can't wait to see how your's turns out. I'm gonna have to get on over to that flickr group.

I love the orange one specially, it looks like a "candy corn" kind of block, see http://crazymomquilts@blotspot.com she made a fabulous candycorn quilt.
I love the idea of make a virtual quilt, being so new to all of this is challenging enough, but to make blocks for someone else! Stressful I think.
