She ain't right

My kids were at a sleepover last Thursday night. That meant I was free Friday morning. So I went to a few thrift stores.

And saw a cool couch. But I didn't buy it because we don't need a couch. We don't have a place for a couch. I have all the furniture I could ever possibly need. So, as I said, I did not buy the couch.

But I thought about said couch for the rest of the day. And on Saturday. Until the store opened back up at 10am and I dragged my family to see it. And we bought it. And we borrowed a truck to bring it home.

And I told Razor that we needed it in the front yard, if only for a minute, for some quick photos of the girls.

Don't think that I can't hear you all scratching your head and muttering, "She ain't right." Cause I can.

I love couch!! It is the perfect color for my living room (or what I eventually want in there.) Spontaneity is awesome! Glad you stopped to have fun and take pictures.

I understand totally why you wanted photos outside, in fact if it wasn't for the fact it would die I'd say it should stay there it looks fabulous... that said a lot of my head was being jealous of your front yard. The space out front of our house wouldn't be deep enough to get that sofa on it !

What a great couch! Those photos are quite "a la Anna Maria Horner" if you've seen her blog: http://annamariahorner.blogspot.com/

I love it ;-) You're not crazy!

what is it about vintage-y velvet furniture and outdoor photography?! I'm thinkin' to myself, "that girl's got it ALL right!"

Wow. It looks so comfy too. My MIL is a sucker for couches too. She buys a new one every couple years. Kind of like trading in your car for the newer model, eh?
I don't think we have any thrift stores that carry furniture. Not nice stuff anyway, or I'd be there just like you LOL!

Love the couch, love the photos! It being so nice and velvety and green, it looks like it belongs there! Great spot for a photo and Cristin is right, Anna Maria Horner has the photo on her blog of the couch outside at the moment.. this one looks very much 'a la Old Red Barn' to me! I know a perfect solution to the not having space for it problem... Build it a little summer house in the garden? :-)

I love it! I think every photographer should do at least one photoshoot in their life that involves a couch in the front yard. And the colors of the couch match the landscaping so well!

I'd have bought that couch if I saw it, too. We need a new couch, but I don't want to get rid of our old one.. I'd like to get it reupholstered.. it's from the 50's and solid wood inside and my stepmom had it redone 3 times.
i just love old couches! Great find!

It's too bad it can't stay outside because all that green looks so perfect together. I think it is a fabulous couch!

Oh this brings back Memories!! Every Year my Granny would take us to the Local Rummage sale and just about every year she would buy a couch and have to have someone in the family come and bring a truck to pick it up!! Those are super cute pics and if you ask me it was worth it!!!

You know, I'd love to have my furniture outside, and you have to admit your girls are digging being outside on a comfortable piece of furniture instead of those awful summer things we all have. I think it looks great out there and boy you'd give the neighbors something new to talk about!

thanks for the smile,
Happy sewing,
Kim

Love it! The couch and the story. So encouraging to hear that other people do these sorts of things.

Wow! I love it, so glad you went back for it. Those things that I see that I love but don't buy right away and then are gone make me so sad. When you get tired of it, you can send it over to my house to live. : )

Ok, get it. Now do the other one I've seen, Outside with the girls posing in an empty large frame. Oh, by the way that can be found in a thrift store as well. LOL

Love the fun you girls have.

I swear my parents have a matching chair!

haha, I love the couch... I'm guilty myself of buying/picking up furniture we don't have a need for in order to "bring it back to life."

I think you should set up a fire pit and keep the couch there for nice summer/fall evenings. Sounds great to me. The couch does look really comfy!

the pictures are nice, the girls are cute, the green is great....but what will you do with the couch now?
i bought a VERY heavy armoir once and had my son LUG it home...i ended up using it for fabric.

Well of course you left it outside for photos...but if you leave it there you really are a mountain gal.

Great photos! Your girls look like you!

I have the companion to your couch. Just retired it and wanting to get a new one. I really like the old one, but we've just redone our livingroom and it's screaming for new.
