Are you serious! I think I'm purple with envy! I HATE buying grape jelly. I know that seems trivial, but with seven kids, we go through a lot, and it just seems to irritate. Congratulations!
I hope so! I have so enjoyed your blog, sewing, and stories. Wait until you see my blog about my nine year old who used your headband tutorial to sew her first gifts!
Ummmmm ---we used to pick grapes and make grape jam - one of my favorites (western NY grapes - yummy!) - I can remember the smells now! Thanks for the memory.
Girl you need a juicer! SO MUCH EASIER! And fun too! And not that expensive. No more than $40 I bet. And heaven. Did I say they're heaven? I juice grapes for jelly. And all kinds of berries too. Oh and all the peach skins, peels, pits, etc. when I'm canning. They get thrown in to the juicer too and make the best jelly. mmmm. good stuff.
i have one of those juiceman IIs and i just put the grapes thru that. all seeds and about half the pulp goes out the back. nice thick jam. no straining or anything, just use juice plus sugar, and the best grape jam ever. can you believe they can grow concord grapes up here. i have yet gone to visit rebecca this year, dont know what shape her grapes are in. she left early for florida last year and they looked in dire need of pruning and care. hope they didnt die over the winter. maybe i need to try and start my own little grape patch. i think i have some frozen juice from last year i came make. i only have two jars left. mark doesnt lift a finger to help me, but he sure likes to give my jam away....
I'm a homemade strawberry jam lover myself. My mom consistently purchased grape jelly and I would sneak the strawberry jam into the cart. Homemade jelly just seems like so much work when compared to jam! I admire your dedication. If there is grape jelly at my farmers market this weekend I might have to try it.
THAT looks like a lot of work too, but it looks delicious! I don't think I've ever tried homemade grape jelly. You guys are going to enjoy that grape jelly SO much.
I generally lurk around here (sorry! Love your quilts and such... LOL) but I have to say that looks awesome! Makes me want to learn how, oh, and plant more grapes. We only have green ones...
Ok, I am sure you have had lots of people asking but I would like to move in. Share in the genius of you. And eat lots of grape jelly. You are an amazing person and I want you to be my mommy. LOL Your family is very lucky to have you. I wish I could taste your sauces, salsas and jelly! Keep up the good work! :) Tonya
Yumm, jamming and canning is one of the summer chores i miss the most from the farm. What a warm feeling it is to know that you are doing something nice for the family.
What a harvest! I'm so jealous! Can't wait to put in grapes at our house. I have fond memories of picking grapes in my grandparents' grape arbor and making jelly with my grandpa.

You should start selling it & mailing it LOL. I am so impressed with your Suzy Homemaker skills! Maybe one day I learn how to grow a tomato LOL...
Wow, how yummy! I am so impressed with your multi-colored thumb :)
My sis uses something called a juicer/steamer that she swears makes it so much easier.
Hope all your batches turn out wonderful!
yum!
